Stuart Weitzman and Fergie Talk Inspiration and Regrets at Last Night’s Footwear News Awards

Titans of the footwear industry mingled alongside shoe-obsessed celebs like Victor Cruz, Fergie, Miranda Kerr, and more at last night’s 26th annual Footwear News Achievement Awards held at MoMa.

But the real star of the night was shoe designer Stuart Weitzman, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award. “I am not so naive as to not know that there are thousands of people in this industry who work as hard as I do,” said Weitzman of the honor. “Not everybody gets noticed, so it’s pretty humbling to be noticed.” Well, Weitzman has been noticed by everyone from Queen Elizabeth II to Beyonce, who recorded a special video congratulating him (“I’ve danced literally 1,000 miles in his amazing shoes,” she shared). So is there anyone Weitzman wishes he could see in his designs?

People Are Pissed About Harvey Nichols’s New Pee-Stained Ad Campaign

The marketing department at British department store Harvey Nichols sure knows how to get people’s panties in a twist (remember those “walk of shame” ads–excuse me, adverts–that caused an Internet frenzy last Christmas?). Former Urban Outfitters CEO Took a Pile of Cash When He Left: Glen Senk left Urban Outfitters without collecting his bonus, but he definitely didn’t walk away empty-handed. Along with his $942,000 salary, WWD reports that Senk received a “$5,000 bonus, $3,000 in other compensation and $1.6 million in option awards.” {WWD subscription required}

Franca Sozzani Talks Anorexia and Fashion at Harvard: The editrix talked to Harvard students about the unfortunate role fashion plays in promoting the ideal of extreme thinness, and how it contributes to the anorexia epidemic seen in young women (and men) in several first-world societies. She says, “Why the age of supermodels, who were beautiful and womanly, slowly started decreasing and we now have still undeveloped adolescents with no sign of curves? Why is this considered beautiful?” Franca failed, however, to comment on the fact that these same “undeveloped adolescents” are prominently featured in her magazine from month to month. {Vogue.it}

Fergie’s New ‘Intense’ Fragrance For Avon

While Fergie’s first fragrance, Outspoken, may have not made our list of best selling celebrity fragrances, its launch last year was Avon’s most successful fragrance launch in the cosmetic company’s 125 year history.

We journeyed up to Madison Square Garden earlier this week where Avon was hosting 5,000 spirited Avon representatives as part of their Avon Believe World Tour, to figure out what’s so “intense” about the singer’s latest perfume.

The Grammy Awards’ Best Dressed Best Efforts

There aren’t even enough dresses for us to make a best dressed graphic. Last night’s red carpet was disastrous.
