Starting in September, you don’t have to be dating George Clooney to get your hands on some Marchesa. The brand is now launching a fragrance, according to WWD. Georgina Chapman told the trade, “Eveningwear evokes an emotion, and this scent does the same thing.” So if you think of iris, freesia, young violet leaves, jasmine, Read more →
When we first heard that Kristen Stewart had been tapped to be the face of a new Balenciaga fragrance back in January, our first reaction was, “Huh?”, and then general acceptance. Since then, the reigning highest paid actress in Hollywood has graced many a red carpet in the label–looking stunning at every photo op. Perhaps a better match than we thought.
Now we know a lot more about the fragrance and KStew’s role, including a (sorta fuzzy and crappy iPhone shot–sorry) of her first ad.
We were giddy with excitement when previews of pouty model goddess Daphne Groeneveld‘s mini-film for Dior Addict hit the web, and now that the full video–shot by Jonas Akerlund–is out, we can’t peel our eyes away. If you need some cheering up at all today, immediately press play on this little treasure.
Fashion houses like Chloe and YSL create scents inspired by Paris, and so does Paris Hilton–only her inspiration is herself. The heiress’s latest scent Dazzle, which will be sold in a pink diamond-inspired falcon with platinum jewel-bedecked cap (naturally), is meant to express her personality.
“Creating a new fragrance or two each year has been a great way to express the changes I have gone through,” Hilton told WWD. “Now I have a whole wardrobe of them to choose from, from light and beachy to mysterious and sexy.” Hmmm, wonder what happened lately to inspire the floral scent with a pink champagne base (you can’t make this stuff up).
It was only a matter of time.
Katy Perry will launch her first fragrance, called Purr, in November at Nordstrom and nordstrom.com, WWD is reporting.
The fragrance was inspired by a Catwoman costume Perry wears on stage. Fittingly, the bottle is kitty-shaped. And despite Perry’s penchant for the tooth-achingly saccharine, Purr won’t smell like candy or Hello Kitty’s garden (whatever that smells like). It has “top notes of peach nectar, forbidden apple and green bamboo; a heart of jasmine blossom, pink freesia and Bulgarian rose, and a drydown of vanilla orchid, white amber, creamy sandalwood and musk,” according to WWD, and will sell for $45 for a 3.4 oz. cat bottle.

For years, I searched apothecaries, departments stores and Sephoras the world over in hopes of finding my signature scent. It started with CK One in middle school. (Which I’ve been secretly considering returning to, if only in jest.) High school belonged to Prescriptives Flirt, which–along with the entire Prescriptives brand–was eventually discontinued. My college and Read more →
Rumor has it Christopher Kane’s working on a fragrance. Unless it’s a collaboration with Dover Street Market or Six Scents, we’re not sure why. When the decision’s made to expand the brand into mass markets (Topshop doesn’t count) we’d expect shoes or bags at the start, and then perfume. But if there really is a Read more →
Everyone who reads what I write on this site probably knows a couple of things about me by now: I used to be a beauty editor and I have a wicked pop culture obsession. You also know that I am often irked by celebrity fragrances. Now, I realize the big business implications of fragrance and Read more →
“I’ve always been known for my scent, if it was in high school, or in the lifeguard truck (‘Where can I get that scent for my wife?’)…I’ve been offered fragrance contracts like everyone else and their dog (hey, that’s that good idea, all natural, of course) but all the elements never came together—the stamp of Read more →
