Best Dressed: Golden Globes (Plus the Best Fashion Tweets About Each Look)

The Golden Globes, the first major red carpet event of awards season, has just wrapped. For the most part (save Piper Perabo, Sarah Michelle Geller and Tilda Swinton of course–we salute you girls!), celebrities played it safe in shimmering blush and champagne colored columns. Of course, safe doesn’t mean not pretty (see: Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace) and black doesn’t mean boring (see Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci).

Click through for our picks for best dressed at the Golden Globes accompanied by our favorite tweets from fashion folks (see: Robin Givhan, “charlize theron in Dior Couture looking fabulous. who needs a creative director?”).

Best Dressed: Comic-Con (That’s Not an Oxymoron)

Comic-Con has been around since the ’70s as a comic book and sci-fi convention for die hard fans. So there has always amazing fashion at Comic-Con–albeit more in the capes and Princess Leia buns vein.

But over the years, it’s expanded in range (now covering anime, video games, fantasy novels etc.,) and size. Today, as films based on comic books continue to become instant summer blockbusters, the convention has become a necessary promotional stop for the actors and actresses starring in said films. Since Comic-Con is not a fancy film festival, stars basically wear whatever they (or their stylists) want. Here are our favorite looks from San Diego.

Runway Vs. the Celeb Way: A Look At How Celebrities Have Altered Runway Looks for the Red Carpet

It’s good to be a celebrity. One of the many perks that comes along with the job, if you’re a hot young A-lister, is the opportunity to wear just about any runway or couture look that you or your stylist likes. And when you’re celebrity of that caliber, the world’s top designers will do just about anything to dress you–including altering their runway creations to your liking. Recall, if you will, that episode of the Rachel Zoe Project when the stylist musters up the courage to ask the Kaiser himself to alter one of his couture creations for Cameron Diaz to make it appeal more to the American masses.

With Cannes, the Met Ball, and the Oscars in recent memory, we’ve compiled a slideshow of starlets who wore looks right off the runway, with some minor changes made. The question is, which do you like better: The original runway versions more or the alterations made to please the stars?

Click through and weigh in.

September Issues Revealed: Who’s Covering What?

The verdicts are in.

The cover stars for all the major September glossies have been revealed. Some are predictable–Elle is banking on Julia Roberts and the momentum of the Eat, Pray, Love vehicle while perennial toy-dresser Katy Perry is a good fit for Seventeen. And some, like Jennifer Anniston for Harper’s Bazaar, are yawn-inducing. But! There are some exciting choices.

Best Dressed: Julianne is Elegant in Erdem while Kirsten and Camilla Sport Sweet Sundresses

This week, the beautiful Julianne Moore wore a gorgeous Erdem gown while Camilla Belle kept it short and sweet in Dior. Kirsten Dunst took a casual stroll through SoHo in an awesome Miu Miu dress while another blond rocked the red carpet in blue Rodarte. Freida Pinto can’t not look gorgeous, but this Oscar de la Renta number certainly doesn’t hurt.

Good Romance: This TUSH editorial of Siri makes us want to run off into the woods and dress up like a fairy. Unfortunately, we are not supermodels, nor five year old girls, so this seems less than logical. {FashionGoneRogue} On the Traina: Erin Kleinberg sure does love her famous daughters/socials as models. Because They’re Worth It

During Oscar season, many beauty types speculated that EstĂ©e Lauder would snag girl-of-the-moment, Freida Pinto as their next spokesperson. And we were kind of loving the idea of seeing her co-star in a campaign with our beloved Gwynnie. But, alas, L’Oreal has signed Freida along with Elizabeth Banks and Evangeline Lilly as their newest leading Read more →
