With Cyber Monday sales at an all-time high, and e-tailers like Amazon making a killing, Google is looking to get in on the action. The web search giant is said to be in talks with major retailers and shipping services to create their very own shopping platform, WWD is reporting. The new online shopping destination would allow customers to browse and buy products across a variety of storefronts–a one-stop-shop, similar to Amazon, but faster. According to the Wall Street Journal, who broke the story, the site will offer same day delivery at low price.

It seems that Project G-Style wasn’t just an intern’s dream after all.
Google will launch its very own “create-your-own” boutique channel on Wednesday called Boutiques.com, reports WWD.
The site, currently password protected, is the result of Google’s acquisition of Like.com last August. So we should have seen this coming, since Like.com and its adjoining properties are all related to online shopping.
An anonymous fashion publicist,tweeting under the name @NoBtotheS, is becoming a real industry force.
WWD reported today that the Twitter star’s comment re: Google launching an e-commerce platform might actually be true. (Google’s entrance into the fashion and retail realm should come as no surprise. Their latest efforts include throwing a fashion industry party next week DJed by Becka Diamond and the Misshapes, and launching project GStyle during the summer.)

For example, most fashion trend-related searches grow in places like New York and Los Angeles and then spread throughout the rest of the country. Pretty cool. {Google via Blackbook}

Google thinks fashion bloggers understand social media better than those covering other industries. So one of the world’s most powerful companies is tapping the brains of some of the world’s most powerful bloggers in order to get a better sense of how they consume and use media. Google is calling the program GStyle.
At the helm of the project is Tony Wang of post.fashionism.com.
A long list of bloggers were emailed by Wang on Monday, asking if they were interested in being interviewed by Google. The interview would consist of questions regarding “how you use internet technologies, your challenges as a blogger, and how Google can help you become the best blogger possible.”
The program, currently in pilot mode, is not a secret operation, but is in internal. The information Google is gathering is only for Googlers. At least for now.
This morning Tavi tweeted, “OOPS, I violated Blogger’s Terms of Service so they made my blog private. Not sure what I did and I don’t find out for a couple days. Blah.” Of course, we wanted to know why, but Google takes a few days to explain their actions and so far Tavi’s guess is Read more →
Bikinis might always reign supreme since most women find them more flattering. But it does feel like there are more choices out there in the maillot category these days.
