It’s official. Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde are everywhere. Last night Emma showed up looking gorgeous in Chanel Haute Couture for the premiere of The Help (left), and can also be seen right now in Crazy Stupid Love . Olivia Wilde made the sometimes-difficult jump from the small screen to the large, appearing in Cowboys and Aliens and The Change-Up this spring.
Both ladies have now completed the journey to full-on movie star by landing a major cosmetics contract. Revlon just announced that both actresses were singed as global brand ambassadors, WWD reports.

How do you measure influence?
Is it through website hits? Or sales? Through ad dollars? Or the number of mass retailers who’ve knocked off your work?
The answer is all of the above and none of the above. Influence is an intangible thing that just happens when you know your craft and you work hard at it.
To determine who belongs in the Fashionista 50–our list of the most influential people working in New York fashion–we used our own knowledge of the industry, combined with advice from industry sources. We also considered each candidate’s consumer reach–through sales, media, etc.
To be considered, candidates had to live and work in New York for most of the year.
What’s Fashionista’s definition of influential? It describes people who are shaping the direction of the New York fashion industry, both aesthetically and in terms of how the business works.

Despite rumors suggesting otherwise, it seems that Brad Goreski’s official resignation from the bosom of Rachel Zoe might have happened long before that September NY Times article on the bow-tied stylist. In October’s Harper’s Bazaar, Goreski dresses up makeup artist and Rag & Bone wife Gucci Westman in Chanel, Stella McCartney, and Bottega Veneta.
This morning I sat in on a beauty brunch at Revlon’s New York headquarters, discussing new products for SS10. There were the Revlon mainstays of mascara, lip stain, and a special collection by Gucci Westman (which is gorgeous), but also a line of scented nail polishes.
I can’t help but think that there’s a lot wrong with this idea. Firstly, nail polish fumes are toxic, and while Revlon’s polish is marketed to be smelled when dry, inevitably people are going to sniff it in the bottle, as many women did this morning. Encouraging people to intently smell toxic fumes is a bad idea on every count.
Over the course of my career I’ve become rather adept at writing about how to put on makeup or do your hair. But what I’m not amazingly talented at is doing it myself. And really the best way to learn is to watch someone else do it. The good folks over at Stila have realized Read more →
