See What Marc Jacobs, Alexa Chung, Hamish Bowles and More Fashion Folk Wore for Halloween

The past four days have been a non-stop party for a lot of fashion people here in New York. And those Halloween parties have been well-documented. The Tribeca Grand’s Overlook Hotel party, the Boom Boom Room’s fete and last night’s V party hosted by Terry Richardson drew the most fashion-heavy crowds and, as we all know, fashion people like to dress up. They also seem to like obscure references–many of their costumes were tough to identify, but still fun to look at. So, from Alexa Chung to Joan Smalls to Marc Jacobs, here are a bunch of fashion people in their Halloween best!

Fashion News Roundup: Rachel Zoe Explains All That Luggage, Hermès is Making Saris, and Steve Jobs Didn’t Shop at St. Croix

Miranda Kerr Will Wear the $2.5 Million Bra at the VS Show: The supermodel (and Orlando Bloom’s baby mama) will return to the VS catwalk next month, along with performers Kanye and Maroon 5, wearing a bejeweled bra worth $2.5m. I’ve already pre-ordered a few for myself. {Telegraph}

Rachel Zoe Blames Extreme Luggage on Climate, Baby Skyler: Remember that photo of Rachel Zoe’s thirteen suitcases as she headed off to various fashion weeks? The Hollywood stylist explains to InStyle that all that baggage was totally necessary: She was packing for several climates! And her baby spits up a lot. Oh ok. {InStyle}

Steve Jobs’s Turtlenecks Aren’t Even by St. Croix: Here’s a case of mistaken mock-turtleneck identity that really worked out for St. Croix. Turns out the luxury brand, which reported a 100% sales increase following Steve Jobs’s death last week, didn’t actually make the Mac genius’s famed black shirts after all. Jobs revealed to biographer Walter Isaacson that the shirts were created by Japanese designer Issey Miyake, who was asked to create a uniform for Apple employees. Wonder how this news will impact Mr. Miyake’s business? {Styleite via Gawker}

Fashion News Roundup: Anna Wintour Made Hamish Bowles Try Out for X-Factor, Alice Temperley Thinks London Fashion Week Is Better Than New York’s, and a List of Movie Designers that Should Exist in Real Life

Alice Temperley Wants A Longer LFW: The Pippa fave feels London Fashion Week–which, at five days, is the shortest of the major four–should be extended. Says Ms. Temperley, “London’s better than New York Fashion Week now.” Alright, now tell us how you really feel! {Telegraph}

McCartney’s Collab for NYC Ballet: Stella McCartney has designed the costumes for a new ballet opening Thursday with a score penned by her dear old dad Paul. The designer feels collaborating with your father is “emotional” for anybody, but that “on another side, I know and understand I am working with Paul McCartney.” {WWD}

Fashion and Fantasy Mix in New Shopping Technology: “Augmented Realities” are growing in popularity on online shopping sites, where the obvious lack of trying-before-buying has always been a major problem. New and improved AR apps generally involve live feeds and 3-D imagery, allowing users to “try on” clothes, makeup, glasses… and grow horns?? {NY Times}

Here Are All the Details We Could Glean About the Top Secret Tom Ford Show

Tom Ford held another one of his top secret, super exclusive presentations in London last night. He unveiled his spring 2012 collection to a small group of press and while we were not among them, we already have a pretty good idea of who was there and what the clothes looked like. Sexy, maximalist and ’90s Gucci-esque seem to have been the main themes.

Here’s what we’ve gathered from the likes of Cathy Horyn, Hamish Bowles, Rachel Zoe and more.

The Vibe:

By the time Anna Wintour, Anna Dello Russo, Carine Roitfeld, Glenda Bailey, Harrods and co had taken their seats (promptly at 6pm) the select presentation had become a three-row show.

Zac Posen Spring 2012: Back to his Red Carpet Roots

Zac Posen is back, y’all. After a several season exile stint in Paris, Posen returned to New York, the city that made him famous. Perhaps too famous, at least according to a recent rather scathing Page Six article that painted him as a petulant child who antagonized the fashion industry to the point that he was ostracized from the people that once adored him.

Perhaps this collection will bring them back. The European contingent, Emmanuelle Alt and Anna Dello Russo, were at Posen’s Sunday evening show, as was Hamish Bowles. The show, which was held on an outdoor balcony overlooking the Lincoln Center fountain, was a lovely way to spend a cool Sunday evening. Once the lights dimmed and the chamber music soundtrack started, it got even lovelier.

The Best Looks from the 2011 Pratt Student Fashion Show

Last week Pratt’s most promising graduating seniors showcased their works to a packed house at the Metropolitan Pavilion on W.18th St. Hamish Bowles was also presented with Pratt’s Fashion Icon Award that day–this is when Diane von Furstenberg, upon presenting him with his award, called him a “closet butch.” But what having Hamish Bowles as the recipient of the Fashion Icon Award meant for Pratt’s design students was that the entire Vogue team, including Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington were front row to view their collections. As was Daphne Guinness, wearing a veil, gold leggings (that looked exactly like a look that would come down the runway from student Sarah Lind), heel-less heels, and giant knuckle rings on every finger.

I’d be scared shitless if I were one of those Pratt students about to showcase their blood sweat and tears in front of Anna Wintour. Of course, the students turned it out.

Here are some of the strongest looks from the 112th annual Pratt fashion show (yes, it’s been going on for that long). Elisha Rho presented my favorite collection, and the graduating senior’s got an impressive resume to back up her talent–she’s worked for Marchesa, Jason Wu, Diane von Furstenberg, and Michael Kors.

The Top 21 Best Dressed at the Met Costume Institute Gala

Editors, designers, celebrities and models turned it out on the red carpet at last night’s Fashion Oscars, aka the Met Ball. Unlike the real Oscars, this is a red carpet where people who really know and care about fashion take risks. As last night’s gala celebrated “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty,” the McQueen retrospective opening at the Met’s Costume Institute this week, many attendees honored the late designer by wearing his incredible creations (some even got ready in them in the windows of Barneys). But of course, there was also Chanel, Balenciaga, Lanvin, Gucci, Givenchy, Valentino, etc.,

Click through to see who made our picks for the best dressed of the night.

Fashion News Roundup: Hamish the Curator, Zac Posen to Intern for Martha Stewart and How to Dress Based on Your Sign

Hamish Has a Chanel Dress and Purple Hands: Hamish Bowles, Vogue‘s European Editor at Large and, most recently, curator of the Balenciaga: Spanish Master exhibition, has his own collection of couture as well. His favorites include some of Galliano’s first collection and a 1926 beaded Chanel dress. Now if someone could just tell us why his hands are purple… {NOWNESS}

How to Make It as a Blogger: Want to be the next big style blogger? We think some level of innate style sense is necessary, but if you’re looking for the recipe for style blogging success, now there’s a hilarious flow chart. There are important details, like bangs and nail art and you must choose a “signature pose.” Might we suggest the “stylish squatter?” {Refinery29}

Polaroids Are Still Cool: Band of Outsiders designer Scott Sternberg talks about why he shoots his lookbook with a Polaroid and uses his friends instead of models. It’s not just because of his Godard obsession or that it saves money. It’s because that’s what he sees inside his head. Also, check out some outtakes from shoots with Marisa Tomei, Jason Schwartzman, Michelle Williams and Kirsten Dunst. {The Moment}

Zac Posen Hearts Martha Stewart: Apparently, Zac Posen has a spare six weeks to spend interning for Martha Stewart. He bid on and won the internship last week at the Martha Stewart Center for Living at Mount Sinai gala. Perhaps he’s planning on releasing a line of housewares? We’re confused. {Racked NY}
