Diane von Furstenberg and Hubby Barry Diller Donated a Cool $20 Million to NYC’s High Line Park

Diane von Furstenberg is a fairy godmother of sorts in fashion, championing new and established designers alike as the beloved president of the CFDA. She, along with husband Barry Diller, is also working some fairy magic in New York City.

The High Line park, which opened in 2009, has been a magnet for tourists and city dwellers alike. It runs along the city’s west side through the Meatpacking District and Chelsea, and has been credited with rejuvenating restaurants and retail in the area. Plus, it’s just a really cool park. But the last half mile has remained unfinished, until now, thanks to the Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation.

Last Night’s Party: Coach Celebrates the High Line with Paz de la Huerta and Dan Humphrey

Crowd pleaser Coach hosted last night’s Summer Party on the High Line. There we found custom monogrammed luggage tags, Dan Humphrey (aka Gossip Girl‘s Penn Badgley) rocking some chest hair, and possibly even more exciting (depending on your appreciation for male cleavage): Grey Goose-spiked ice pops.

After accidentally trekking our best shoes through the park’s new water feature–warning: look down or you’ll get soaked–we stumbled upon a rouge-lipped Paz de la Huerta dressed in a black Gucci number and a re-issued Coach bag. It was the Boardwalk Empire star’s first time in the park since its re-opening, “I used to come here as a child before it was the High Line,” she told us. As for the attention her lipstick’s been getting these days, she said, “The whole thing is ridiculous, it has nothing to do with the color of my clothing. Tonight I’m not wearing a red dress, and I would never match this with black lipstick.”
