Fashion News Roundup: Whitney Port Wants Charity, Gwyneth Paltrow Inspired Hugo Boss, and Aggy Deyn Stars in Doc Martens Film

Whitney Port, author/fashion designer/reality star, is looking for a little help from the internet to pay for her show at fashion week. Donating to her includes some interesting rewards like ‘thank you’ tweets. The only problem–well besides the fact that a fashion show ain’t no charity? Grading the Fall Ads, Part 2

When it comes to fall ad campaigns, we’ve already seen Louis Vuitton’s sober train passengers and Prada’s video game princesses, but are you ready for Givenchy’s ravers and Balenciaga’s overdressed beach-goers? Last Night’s Parties: Maripol Celebrates Her Legacy, Chloe Sevigny Celebrates Hugo Boss

It was Maripol, stylist to ’80s statement-makers Debbie Harry, Grace Jones, Cher, and Madonna. Steven Meisel may have shot that iconic Like A Virgin album cover, but Maripol’s the one who slipped Madonna into the rubber bracelets and crucifix jewelry that sparked a trillion copycats. So, yah, we’d say Gaga gushing over Maripol’s cultural legacy is pretty on point.

While Maripol certainly had a heavy hand in fashion history, the woman’s still very much relevant today. Last year, she designed neon t-shirts and rubber jewelry for Marc by Marc; last night, she continued her latest moment in the sun (or torrential downpour, as luck would have it) with a jam-packed signing of her Little Red Riding Hood.

Boss Black Makes Black the Boss

Graeme Black, the Scottish designer who walked away with this year’s Scottish Fashion Award and put in significant time at both Armani and Ferragamo, has just been appointed a “Creative Consultant” for Boss Black, the more formal section of Hugo Boss’ womenswear collection. Apparently, the only thing that made him stop and question whether or Read more →

Streetwalker: Matching Structures

Olya, Mom & Art Publisher Got Her: At the Guggenheim’s Hugo Boss Prize 2008 party. Stalked Her: Actually it was more like shimmied up beside her while dancing. Models

Speaking of Snejana…

We hear the spindly babe is the new face of Hugo Boss for Fall ’08. That’s good news for her, because that campaign pays way too much. It’s also interesting because it means S.O. will be taking over for Irina Lazareanu, whose bohemian lifestyle and rocker sensibilities were transformative to the industry over the past Read more →
