The De-Evolution of Hollywood’s Royal Couples from Bogart and Bacall to Kardashian and Humphries
Since their epic wedding, many media sources have referred to Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries as “Hollywood Royalty,” which got us thinking: What exactly does Hollywood Royalty mean today? Certainly not as much as it used to.
I’ll explain: Our grandparents got Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, our parents got Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw and we get…The Kardashians? Somehow, it just doesn’t seem fair.
It’s not that the relationships of yore were so much more wholesome (half of them started when one or both parties were married to other people) but it’s that they seemed to have that X factor–a heady mix of glamour, mystery and money. The Kardashians certainly have one of those, but really, do they make the cut as “Hollywood Royalty”? And if they do, what does that say about our generation?
