Iris Van Herpen Is Not Designing Katniss’ Wedding Dress for the Next Hunger Games

Dutch designer Iris van Herpen showed another haunting and innovative couture collection in Paris Monday amidst rumors that she may have the honor of designing Katniss Everdeen’s wedding dress for this fall’s Catching Fire, the second Hunger Games installment.

Herpen would be absolutely perfect for the job–her structural, futuristic aesthetic is very Capitol-esque. Only she’s not doing it.

Cinna Lenny Kravitz Designed a Collection For Toms Because Daughter Zoe Told Him To

File this one under collaborations we did not see coming. Has Lenny Kravtiz’s role as Hunger Games stylist Cinna turned him onto fashion design? The rockstar-cum-actor has, unbeknownst to us, designed a spring collection of stylish slip-ons for “one for one” footwear company Toms. According to Toms’ blog, Kravitz worked closely with founder Blaky Mycoskie Read more →

Get Ready for Hunger Games-Themed Weddings

The Hunger Games has captured the imaginations of a lot of people with its strong visuals and heart-wrenching plot. It’s a story that’s easy to connect with emotionally–and let’s not forget the fact that the lead female rocked some amazing braids the whole movie. It inspired a nail polish line, multiple fan sites, a Tumblr, and the adoration of fashion and pop culture sites alike (yeah, us too), even if the costumes ultimately disappointed the fashion media. And now…weddings?

Fashion News Roundup: Porn Star Sasha Grey Gets a Spread in Interview Germany, Jessica Biel Goes Wedding Dress Shopping in Paris, and Heidi Klum Files for Divorce from Seal

Sasha Grey Puts Clothes On for Interview Germany: Porn star turned actress Sasha Grey stars in an editorial shot by Sean & Seng for Interview Germany‘s April edition. While fashion and porn have always been sometimes-strange bedfellows, there’s nary a nip-slip in sight from Grey (sorry, dudes). Grey wears the likes of Versace and Jil Sander on location at Hollywood High School. {Fashion Gone Rogue}

Elizabeth and James Make Foray Into Home Goods: Or at least, that’s what their new Clara dress looks like. The barely-there mint green dress looks suspiciously like a bath towel. The dress, which retails for $395, also comes with straps for those ladies feeling a bit more modest. {Refinery29}

Jessica Biel Shops for Wedding Dress: Living out every girl’s idea of 7th Heaven, Biel was spotted shopping for wedding gowns in Paris this past weekend. She spent a reported seven hours in the showrooms of Giambattista Valli and Elie Saab preparing for her upcoming nuptials to Justin Timberlake. Biel raised eyebrows when she then stopped by a children’s furniture store and chic kid’s clothing store Bonpoint. {New York Daily News}

Seen On the Runway at Iceland Fashion Week: Hunger Games-Chic, Xanadu Schtick

Reykjavik–These Icelanders sure know how to put on a show.

I was mere minutes into the Reykjavik Fashion Festival when I realized I might be watching a simulated snuff film while seated in the subterranean parking garage of the city’s Harpa Opera House where the week’s first show, Mundi, was taking place. The short flick featured a post-apocalyptic gang of well-dressed hooligans in bold patterned wool knits riding rough shod over the Icelandic highlands on the stocky yet self-assured Icelandic horse (a Viking breed that you mustn’t call a pony lest you upset the locals). At their destination they electrocute a man using energy from the country’s indigenous hot springs (so eco, so green, so wrong).

Jennifer Lawrence Covers Interview, Says She’d Like To ‘Be Bridget Jones’

How hot does Katniss Jennifer Lawrence look on the cover of Interview Germany? She’s wearing another one of those bodysuits (this one’s by Dolce & Gabbana) that keep scoring mag covers and keep being totally unrealistic for normal women to wear. Anyway…J. Law’s hotness aside, she seems pretty awesome and accessible in her Interview interview, Read more →

Fashionista Week in Review: The Kraziest Karl Lagerfeld Kwotes, Caviar Manicures and Cats Takeover the Spring Ad Campaigns

Did You Know We Love Cats?: We aren’t messing around. Here at Fashionista really love cats. So we found 12 spring ad campaigns that, frankly, needed more cats and then we added said cats. You’re welcome.

Karl Lagerfeld is Krazy: The man is unquestionably a little bananas-sandwich, but we love him all the same. It’s hard to separate the man from the myth, however, when he lays out his (bonkers) daily routine for Harper’s Bazaar. Equally enjoyable: the kraziest Karl kwotes of all time.

Fake Abercrombie & Fitch Sells Racist Pants: Before you can even ask yourself who would bother counterfeiting A&F, they slap you in the face with an “N-bomb.” We can’t be sure if this was some sort of bad translation program, but we can definitely be sure it’s offensive.

Blair Mercer is Back: Our “Diary of an Anon Fashion Assistant” feature seems to split you guys between utter disbelief and strong sympathy, but this week’s is too good NOT to be true. Seriously people, can you make this stuff up?

Top 10 Designers from Arise Fashion Week: Arise Fashion Week just took place in Lagos, Nigeria and our contributor picked 10 designers you’ll want to keep an eye on. From the avant-garde to the historically inspired, we’re really loving all of it.
