Victoria Beckham sure is making the indie fashion magazine cover rounds lately. Just a week after her March Numéro Tokyo cover was revealed, here she is wearing her own line on the cover of iD‘s “Whatever The Weather Issue.” And she looks ah-mazing.
Rachel Roy to Release Footwear Line: As a few non-designers zealously stamp their names on shoe lines, actual designer Rachel Roy is expanding her brand, adding a footwear collection to the two clothing and accessory lines bearing her namesake. Alexa Chung Designs a Teddy Bear: For the BBC’s Children in Need charity, Alexa Chung joins the ranks of designers like Giles and Louis Vuitton, designing a version of their iconic Pudsey Bear. Alexa keeps Pudsey’s look relatively simple, in ink blue velvet and a red and white heart-embroidered bandana. {Vogue UK}
Dont judge a book by its cover… Unless it’s a magazine, in which case, sometimes the cover is the deciding factor of whether or not to buy the mag altogether.
The best covers of 2011 returned to a new naturalism and a fun aesthetic, like the Lara Stone T cover we’re still drooling over, pictured at left. Sure, there’s still room for artifice in fashion (see: Stella Tennant on Vogue Italia), but 2011 was a year for reflecting on natural beauties, incredible models, and stellar photography.

It’s fitting that Carine Roitfeld is wearing a “God Save the Queen” tee on her i-D cover (which we saw on The Cut), because she reigns supreme. This is one of the rare instances we can remember of a usually behind-the-scenes fashion person covering a fashion mag (though you could hardly call Roitfeld ‘behind-the-scenes’–she is the scene).
Storms, like the one that’s currently headed for New York and just cancelled my Montauk trip, can be scary and sometimes even dangerous, so everyone be careful this weekend! That being said, they can also make for intriguing backdrops and themes in fashion editorials and ad campaigns. You’d be hard-pressed to find an Annie Leibovitz-lensed photograph that takes place outdoors without some ominous-looking clouds. Somehow, they can make any subject look so much more captivating and dramatic.
So, on this rainy, gloomy day, we’ve decided to round up some of our favorite storm-inspired fashion photographs. Enjoy and please be safe!
I don’t have to tell you that the September issue is the most important issue of the year… But in case you’re living under a rock without a copy of The September Issue, it is.
Lucky for us, just about every magazine’s September issue cover has been revealed, from Vogue US romantic Kate Moss shot to a sexy Cindy Crawford on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore. Still missing from the pack is V‘s highly anticipated cover styled by Carine Roitfeld and Vogue Italia’s cover.
From the existing covers we’ve discerned that Louis Vuitton is the new Prada. Vuitton’s AW11 collection appears on 6 of the 51 covers shown here – more than any other label, so far.
And don’t forget that LOVE’s model covers hit newsstands on September 1! Will you be getting a Lara or a Mariacarla?
