Fashion News Roundup: Franca Sozzani Won’t Attend Meetings, Carey Mulligan Covers W in a Bra, and See Lindsay Lohan’s Full Playboy Spread

Franca Sozzani Doesn’t Do Meetings: The long-time EIC of Vogue Italia told Industrie that she never – NEVER! – participates in sit-downs because “responsible and creative” people “don’t need to have a teacher.” I think my elementary school art teacher would respectfully disagree with that statement, Ms. Sozzani. {Telegraph}

Carey Mulligan Looks Flawless on W, Has a Chip(munk) On Her Shoulder: Carey gets another cover – but this time it’s a new photo! The lady looks phenom in her dainty (Nina Ricci?) bra. {Style Frizz}

Lindsay Lohan’s Playboy Spread is Not So Bad: Damn that girl is stacked. And no full frontal. Brava Lindsay. {OhNoTheyDidn’t}

Image of the Day: Franca Sozzani Covers Industrie

The outspoken and sassy Italian Vogue editor-in-chief is looking rather mysterious on the cover of the latest issue of Industrie. Sozzani follows in the footsteps of Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and, before that, Marc Jacobs in drag for Issue 4 of the glossy, which is published twice yearly.

Marc Jacobs Plays Dress Up With Prada’s Fall 2011 Collection in Industrie

Katie Grand styled Marc Jacobs for a spread in the latest issue of Industrie magazine called “Prada, I’m your biggest fan: Marc Jacobs comes out as a Miuccia maniac.” The 10-page spread, Industrie‘s second in which Marc dresses up in womens clothing, shows the designer dressed in various head-to-toe looks from Prada’s fall 2011 collection. Marc, clearly a voracious Prada fan, was shot by Manuela Pavesi, Micciua’s best friend. Quoted in the spread is Miuccia herself: “Of course I like Marc dressing in Prada very much. I think he is very brave and, most important of all, he looks completely acceptable and elegant. He has a real spirit and I like his work.”

A perennial fan of skirts, Marc’s love of wearing Prada womenswear is not relegated to the pages of magazines. “I got through this dreary winter by coming to work each day dressed in Cat-in-the-hat fur boas, striped pencil skirts, hospital scrubs, correctional-facility tops and brogue/espadrille/creeper-style shoes-all Prada. Some men’s, and some from the women’s collection.”

According to Katie Grand, Marc bought two of every skirt from the collection–one for New York and one for Paris. We’re jealous. It’s nice to see two designers supporting each other. Click through for the full spread.

Bryanboy, Rumi Neely and Elin Kling Are Now All On One Site and Possibly Setting Up Shop in NYC

Why travel from store to store when it’s quicker and easier to get your shopping done at the mall? This seems to be the philosophy behind superblog Nowmanifest.

The new site is a one-stop shop for the leading personal style blogs. Starting last month, the individual online locations of Bryanboy, Rumi Neely‘s Fashiontoast, Elin King‘s Style by Kling, and the digital counterpart of Industrie magazine, bacame part of the Nowmanifest network.

The homepage boasts instant updates from each of the bloggers–their posts, Twitter feed, and comments from their readers, so you never have to miss a dramatic photo of Rumi in a parking lot or a drunken tweet from Bryanboy.

The Best Magazine Covers of 2010

Magazine covers in 2010 could be arranged into two simple categories: the absolutely amazing and the offensively bad. But let’s focus on the good here…

2010 was the year that brought us two sets of fantastic LOVE covers (including Alessandra styled by Katie Grand, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Lauren Hutton, styled by Fashionista columnist Sally Lyndley), Anna Wintour on the cover of the somewhat mysterious Industrie magazine, Dakota Fanning doing her best starlet in Dazed & Confused, and Lara’s boobs, looking better than ever on the 90th anniversary issue of Vogue Paris.

Overall, covers in 2010 were dynamic, bright, and a bit raunchy, so click through to see which ones hit the right note.
