The White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which took place Saturday night in DC, always makes for an interesting red carpet. The event is a strange mix of politicians, New York’s media power players, and celebrities from the A list on down to the D list. We’re talking President Obama and Kim Kardashian in the same room (“Why is she famous anyway?” Obama joked during his speech). And that makes for some very interesting fashion.

Yesterday Derek Lam sent Ivanka Trump Footwear a cease-and-desist letter requesting Trump stop selling her ‘Cadie’ wedge sandal, which Lam alleges “blatantly and intentionally copied” his Ayami wedge sandal. To glance at the two shoes, there’s no doubt about it: they look identical. “It’s such an investment to make a shoe…we had to protest this,” Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann, chief executive officer of Derek Lam told WWD.
But Marc Fisher, which produces Ivanka Trump Footwear, is refuting Lam’s charges. How?
Ivanka Trump, you’re fired! The socialite, Trump heiress, and businesswoman is accused of copying Derek Lam‘s covetable Ayami wedge. And from the looks of it he has a pretty open-and-shut case (see above).
A Derek Lam shoe designer was shopping on Bloomingdales when they realized there was something oddly familiar about Ivanka Trump’s Cadie wedge sandal, reports WWD. The shoe designer alerted Derek Lam CEO Jan-Hendrik Schlottman and the company quickly sent a cease-and-desist letter to Ivanka Trump Footwear and its licensee, Marc Fisher Footwear, yesterday. Trump now has seven business days to yank the offending wedge from all retailers.
