James Franco Is the Poster Boy for Gucci’s New Bespoke Service

After earning his masters degree, acting in major blockbusters, penning short stories, and directing and producing critically acclaimed short films, James Franco has finally gone back to harvesting his foremost talent: Being really, really, ridiculously good looking.

Franco is starring in Gucci‘s new campaign for their just-launched bespoke service. Shot by Nathaniel Goldberg at the huge Roman film studio Cinecittà, the campaign is called “All The World’s a Stage,” and as you can see, it features a squinty-eyed (but still completely hot) James Franco posing nonchalantly at what looks like a movie set.

“James has an innate ability to fuse classic elegance with contemporary style and interpret formalwear in an individual way,” Gucci creative director Frida Giannini said in a release.

In Honor of Lady Gaga’s VMA Drag Show, Here are the Best Gender-Bending Fashion Editorials, Covers and Campaigns

At the VMAs last night, Lady Gaga spent the entire evening as her “male counterpart” Jo Calderone (which she first broke out on the September 2010 Vogue Hommes Japan cover, left) vehemently refusing to break character. Perhaps she felt she’d exhausted all womenswear options? Ran out of Versace? Couldn’t get to the costume store because of Irene? (I’m done now).

Whatever the reason, it made us think of some other famous gender-bending moments in fashion. Take a peek at who passed the best as the opposite sex (hint: there’s one designer who really loves his drag).

Fashion News Roundup: James Franco Shot Agyness Deyn for Elle, Celine Reissues Old Faves and Forbes‘ Best-Paid Celebs

Celine to Reissue the Classics: The brand is taking six of Phoebe Philo’s best ensembles and re-releasing them in new color palettes: aqua cuffs on a button-down and a cobalt blue tuxedo pop out and scream “Buy me! I’m available in July at Bergdorfs, Jeffrey New York, Barneys and Kirna Zabete!” {The Moment}

James Franco, Photographer? Franco has been looking to break into new forms of art/self expression and is now adding photographer to his ever-expanding repertoire. In a collaboration with Joe Zee, Franco shot Agyness Deyn for a spread in Elle. If it’s anything like those strange videos the two filmed last year, it should be quite interesting. {WWD}

Volkswagen Rocks the MoMA
Parties

Volkswagen Rocks the MoMA

Monday night’s Volkswagen-sponsored party at the MoMA had all the promises of a good time: fine art, James Franco, and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem as the DJ. Sounds like just the formula to get any cool kid out of their apartment on a Monday night and into the MoMA’s sculpture garden; and not even the rain could stop party-goers from busting out their best looks. (That vanguard of handsome umbrella holders may have helped…)

But why the bash? Because Volkswagen was celebrating the North American launch of its new Formula racing prototype, the XL1. You don’t have to understand “carspeak” to know that VW’s newest addition to its fleet is a hit. The design is sleek, futuristic, aerodynamic, and fit to be shown off at a museum. Honestly, it was hard not to try to sneak into the driver’s seat and speed away. The XL1 also functioned as a great segue to announce Volkswagen’s new partnership with MoMA–it’s financing exhibits and donating works of art to MoMA’s collection.

But enough business, on to the partying…

8 Outfit Changes for Oscar Host Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway and James Franco are hosting the Oscars this year. We’re very much looking forward to this, both for James Franco’s craziness and Anne Hathaway’s ensembles, because you know there will be many and you know they will all be ah-mazing. We’ve decided to lighten Rachel Zoe‘s load a little this year (she is pregnant and all) and style Annie ourselves. So, ignoring the fact that many of her looks will probably be Fall 2011 (the Oscars are a couple weeks after Fashion Week), here are eight plausible outfits for Anne Hathaway’s big night.

And don’t worry, there are more couture dresses than sweatshirts inside.
