Attend New York Fashion Week From Your Couch: A Complete List of Shows Livestreaming This Week

New York is unreasonably cold right now. Like impending-blizzard-freeze-your-Rag & Bone-covered-butt-off cold. This is exactly why we, and fashionistas nowhere near New York, are praising the fashion gods (more like IMG & various PR people) for the glorious amount of New York fashion week shows livestreaming this week. We wrangled 89 shows (89!) and presentations to tune into over the course of the next week…with even more coming in! The best part? You won’t be judged for taking in these shows in your pjs over some popcorn or pizza or half a bottle of wine…

See any shows we missed? Let us know!

Kate Middleton Plays Field Hockey in Heels, Brad Pitt Helps Sell More Chanel No. 5, and Kim Kardashian Won’t Return Her Engagement Ring

As we here in the Western world bid Movember goodbye, men in the Middle East are showing much more commitment to facial hair. Apparently doctors are doing tons of mustache implants there. {HuffPo}

Kate Middleton wore a cute plaid McQ coatdress and played field hockey in heels on a recent visit to her old school, St. Andrews. {US Weekly}

The “i-cone-ic” bra that Madonna wore during her 1990 Blond Ambition tour has auctioned for a cool £32,450- that’s over $52,000. {The Telegraph}

Jeremy Scott Fall 2012: For the Lisa Frank/Bart Simpson Generation
Reviews

Jeremy Scott Fall 2012: For the Lisa Frank/Bart Simpson Generation

Jeremy Scott‘s shows ocassionally draw the odd celebrity and this season’s was perhaps the oddest. Calvin Klein staple Joe Jonas was there (we’ve also seen at Simon Spurr and the Miu Miu party this week) in the front row alongside the likes of The Misshapes, Cory Kennedy and Sky Ferreira.

However, Jonas was probably more able to relate to Scott’s fall collection than you’d expect, as many of the prints and accoutrements featured icons from his own childhood. We’re about the same age and there are few things I nostalgically recall more frequently than Lisa Frank (okay, I’m also a girl). And guess what covered one of Scott’s colorful corsets? Lisa Frank stickers! It was a hodgepodge of ’90s references, as Scott’s collections often are, from Lisa Frank to Rainbow Brite to The Simpsons (Bart’s head was a print on a few pieces) to video games to AIM emoticons. A very different, and more childish ’90s inspiration compared to the grungy, post-punk outings we’ve seen from more conventional designers.

Jeremy Laing, Anthony Vaccarello and Adam Kimmel Nominated for This Year’s ANDAM Fashion Award

Thanks to a grand endorsement from Carine Roifeld, Hakaan Yildirim was already a name to know when he received France’s prestigious ANDAM award in 2010. “We’re in Harvey Nichols, Colette, Opening Ceremony–it’s nearly 26 stockists internationally!” he told Fashionista at the awards ceremony in Paris last October.

Now it’s time for another up-and-comer to take advantage of the prize, i.e. €220,000, a mentorship with former Chloe chief exec Ralph Toledano, and the chance to show at Paris Fashion Week. This year’s nominees include Jeremy Laing, Adam Kimmel, Anthony Vaccarello, Commuun, Matthew Harding, and Yiqing Yin. The judges? Pierre Berge, Hillary Alexander, Emmanuelle Alt, Nicole Phelps, Sarah Lerfel from Colette, and Humberto Leon from Opening Ceremony, to name a few.

Special Report: Sunglasses

We’re Fashionista. Of course we like sunglasses. But this year, it seems to be the accessory of choice: The Thing everything wants to get their hands on. Who cares if they’re from The Row or Target? As long as they look good, we’re happy. So we’ve rounded up the season’s best. We’ll be following up later today with a few longer features on the world of sunnies, so stay tuned.

Fashion News Roundup: Don Draper Covers W , Jeremy Scott Does Daytime TV, e.p.t. Launches Pee-Stick Keepsake Cases

Don Draper Covers W: Stefano Tonchi’s first cover as EIC of W is out. Nathaniel Goldberg photographed and Lori Goldstien styled Jon Hamm and Rebecca Hall for the August cover. Hamm’s definitely got that smoldery thing down pat. Should he ever choose to take a break from acting, we’re sure the modeling world would welcome him with open arms. {W}

“And That’s the Stick Mommy Peed On”: Pregnancy test e.p.t has started selling keepsake cases after a recent survey showed that pee sticks were among the top three pregnancy keepsake items. Ew. {MomFinds}

Jeremy Scott, Soap Star: Out-there designer Jeremy Scott is making a foray into the world of daytime drama. He’s guest starring on The Young and the Restless tomorrow, and will be playing, what else, a designer. We’re crossing our fingers he’ll be wearing his own designs. {Elle.com}

Branding at Its Best: Eleven Special Items to Obsess Over

The printed tote. The logo tee. These are items that many luxury brands create to keep the public going gaga over their pricier goods. Creating trinkets, tees, totes, and more helps keep brands in the public eye; more people can afford a Marc Jacobs key ring than a collection dress.

That said, a lot of luxury brands’ special items still sell at a high price (see Chanel’s bike), and exist to give a greater meaning to the term “lifestyle brand.”

Either way, there are tons of special items created by our favorite designers that we regularly obsess over and attempt to pool our funds to buy. Click through to see the best of what we think constitutes the “fashionable life.”

Salah Barka at Tunis Fashion Week

Some designers are as famous for the cheeky, multi-referential clothes as much as the ecstatic, Studio 54-like atmosphere of their catwalks. Paris has Andrea Crews, and London has Jeremy Scott. Now, Tunis has Salah Barka. Salah took the crowd by surprise during Tunis fashion week when his models invaded the stage in enormous head pieces, Read more →
