Project Runway All Stars_Miss Piggy

1. First things first, didn’t The Muppets come out about two months ago?

2. Isn’t this show’s lack of a German accent throwing you off?

3. What happened to Austin’s voluminous back-bow concept? And how did it transform into a side-saddle fanny pack bow on each hip?

4. Anthony, why aren’t you embarrassed at your lack of ability to install a zipper? On the all-star series of all places?

1. (Question for Bryce’s query, “Did you ever think you’d be able to speak to a fashion editor from a major magazine?”) Bryce, did you actually ever plan on becoming a real designer? That kind of interaction kind of goes with the territory

2. Is it really possible, like actually possible, that two people would get the same fabric from Mood. yeah….no.

3. Cecilia, are you sure that Mood has yellow lighting? Sure it can be a bit dark in its weirder corners (aka: home to all the neon faux fur), but yellow is not the way I’d describe it. Perhaps you should see an ophthalmologist, you may be colorblind.

4. Viktor’s using muslin?! There’s real design procedure going on?! oh wait…here comes the glue…

5. Nina, how can we get a hold of your Preen shirt? And how does it look better on you than it did on the runway? That almost never happens.

Glossies had a rough go of it during the first half of this year. Sales for all major fashion titles were down, with the exception of Vogue (up more than 12%) and Allure (flat, which is sort of a victory.)

Vogue’s secret? Putting Lady Gaga on its March cover. That cover alone sold 100,000 copies more than Vogue’s 2010 March cover, WWD is reporting. Reality stars are also newsstand gold. Glamour’s Kim Kardashian cover and People Style Watch’s Lauren Conrad cover were huge sellers, though both those titles’ sales are down overall. And our favorite blonde girl-next-door-types? Glenda Bailey, Harper Bazaar’s EIC told WWD, “It would be a lot easier if we could feature proven sellers like Jennifer Aniston or Gwyneth Paltrow on the cover every month.” No one mentioned Sarah Jessica Parker, surprisingly, who is still getting quite a bit of play on covers.

And the cover stinkers?

Olivier Theyskens Apparently Knows Who’s Designing Kate Middleton’s Dress: Styleite caught up with Theyskens at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of Karl Lagerfeld’s Magnum ice cream films, and he fessed up that he knew who was designing the dress. Maybe one more chocolate cocktail and he might have blurted the name. {Styleite}

Adweek’s Top Ten Most Influential Magazines. Plus, Joanna Coles Gets Editor of the Year: Joanna Coles, EIC of Marie Claire, is called the “anti-chic, anti-Anna” by AdWeek (and they mean it as a compliment.) Mags that made the list? Marie Claire, People StyleWatch, Cosmopolitan, and Vanity Fair, among others. No Vogue, though. *gasp* {AdWeek}

Beyoncé Wears a Dress Made of Petals With Her Knickers Showing for a Harper’s Bazaar Shoot in Paris: And she “hearts” us all. {JustJared}

No Such Thing As Standard Sizing: No doubt you’ve come across vanity sizing and arbitrary sizing while shopping for clothes. A new full body scanner is hitting malls to tell you which size you are in specific brands. (And a fun factoid: If you have a 27 inch waist you’re a size 8-10 at Marc Jacobs, but a size triple zero at Chico’s.) {NYT}

Marie Claire sex and relationship blogger Maura Kelly drew the ire of the internet yesterday with her post about CBS sitcom Mike & Molly titled “Should ‘Fatties’ Get a Room? (Even on TV?),” in which she concluded, yes, “fatties” should get a room because overweight people “gross” her out. Kelly’s post has since received nearly 1,000 comments, and unsurprisingly, the vast majority of them pillory her.

Some commenters are so upset with the mag for publishing the post that they claim they are canceling their subscriptions. One even called for a boycott of Marie Claire until Kelly was fired.

So what does Marie Claire EIC Joanna Coles think of the piece? We asked her yesterday at Banana Republic’s spring show.

Get a Clue: L.A. boutique Confederacy has teamed up with Francisco Costa to reproduce and sell the iconic white Calvin Klein dress that Alicia Silverstone wore in Clueless. (Recall the scene between Cher and her father: “What the hell is that?” “A dress.” “Says who?” “Calvin Klein.”) The dress will be sold online and in-store for $915. We’re, like, totally excited. {Daily Front Row}

Taylor-Made: Rachel Zoe’s former assistant Taylor Jacobson is now working as Kate Beckinsale’s stylist. It’s a high profile gig for Jacobson. Last thing we heard, she was consulting for denim line Kasil. Maybe her former boss won’t be so harsh now. {Hollywood Life}

The Teacher As Student: You probably wouldn’t expect the Editor-In-Chief of Marie Claire to be taking her cues from haul vloggers Blair and Elle Fowler (ages 16 and 21, respectively), but that’s exactly what she did. Check out Coles’ “What’s In My Bag” spoof vlog. {Marie Claire}

To: Tips@Fashionista.com From: Alpha@Boy.com Hi! Hope all is well and you survived Fashion Week! Anyway, I just finished watching the premiere episode of Running in Heels on the Style Network’s website and thought I’d pass it on. I honestly think it’s worse than Stylista, the editors make it completely evident that it’s fake. And the [...]
