Julianne Moore Hilariously Explains Her ‘Toemageddon’ Moment at Cannes

We gasped out an empathetic “Ouch!” when we saw pictures of Julianne Moore on the Cannes red carpet with her pinky toes looking mangled in a too-narrow pair of platform stilettos. But it apparently wasn’t as bad as it looked.

Moore went on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to talk about the now-infamous shoe shots seen ’round-the-world, which she hilariously dubbed “Toemageddon.”

Less is Moore in Vanity Fair‘s Homage to Ingres

New blog Part Nouveau, or ‘partly new’, delves into fashion history to showcase the inspiration–be it art, photography or design–behind some of today’s biggest fashion moments. It’s fascinating and impossible not to get lost in, so we asked the site’s founder, Lilah Ramzi, to give us a little history lesson each week.

This week? A little lesson in art history and the work of Ingres.

Helen Mirren’s Makeup Artist Doles Out Age-Appropriate Beauty Advice

For those of us with the fleeting advantages of youth still on our side, trying new beauty trends is as easy as watching a YouTube tutorial and popping down to your local Sephora. But for those of us who’ve had the privilege of enjoying life a little longer, makeup doesn’t always seem so user-friendly.

We consulted two beauty professionals experienced in making up some of the world’s most gorgeous women: Hollywood makeup artist Elaine Offers, who counts Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore, and Ellen Degeneres among her celebrity clients, and MAC Cosmetics senior artist Neil Young, who worked with legendary style icon Iris Apfel on her collaboration for the brand.

Read on for their tips!

Emilia Clarke in Dior, Julianne Moore in Valentino and More

The Great Gatsby events weren’t the only happenings to draw a well-heeled crowd this week (though we’ve never seen so much perfect Prada in one place). For instance, Zoe Saldana’s killing her Star Trek press tour; Georgia Jagger reminded us how stylish she is at a Sunglass Hut event; and Emilia Clarke continued to prove us right in a lovely Dior number.

Click through for all that and the rest of our 10 best dressed!

Fantasy Dressing the Met Ball Guests
We Play Dress-Up

Fantasy Dressing the Met Ball Guests

The Met Ball is like the Oscars for the fashion industry: all the best people in all the best dresses.

This year’s theme, punk, presents an interesting conundrum: will people go all out, liberty spikes and Givenchy nose rings and all, or just throw some studs on a Chanel suit and call it pseudo-punk?

We’re hoping for the former, and so in the spirit of going the distance, we’ve picked out our favorite punk fashions and paired them with Met Ball regulars like Anna Wintour and Julianne Moore and some fantasy guests (Bjork, anyone?).

Click through to see the looks we want to see on the red carpet, and let us know what you’re hoping for in the comments.
