The CFDA Awards–aka fashion’s Oscars–are upon us. But unlike the Oscars, where celebs tend to play it safe and throw on a strapless fish-tail number, the CFDA red carpet tends to be a bit more interesting, a bit more risky. These are fashion people trying to impress other fashion people, after all.

If you haven’t heard, yet another modeling competition show called The Face is about to make its debut and it has a few big names behind it: ANTM cast-off Nigel Barker, Coco Rocha, Karolina Kurkova, and Naomi Campbell. Campbell hopped on a conference call with me and some other journalists to chat about her new gig. Yes, I got to listen to Naomi Campbell talk on the phone for an hour. It was pretty unreal.
“My list [of what I won’t do] compared with any other model’s is insane,” Coco Rocha says of her contract, which includes no nudity, no government or religious artifacts, and no working with other models who are posing in a way that doesn’t jive with Rocha’s values.
