In Honor of Bella Swan Getting Hitched, Here Are Our 10 Most Favorite Movie Wedding Dresses

A knock-off of Bella Swan’s wedding dress (Twilight‘s heroine, in case you’ve been living under a rock for three years) just went on sale (at left) and it got us thinking about memorable movie wedding dresses. Forget about people’s princesses who wear too much eyeliner or wannabe princesses who get divorced after 72 days: Movies are where the real, unattainable, fantasy love-and-marriage happens. From the classic to the garish, we’ve rounded up some truly unforgettable wedding gowns from all different eras. Click through to see yards of tulle and lace and dreams and butterflies on gorgeous actresses. Sigh.

10 Engaged Celebs and The Wedding Dresses We’d Most Like to See Them In

The Kates were only the beginning.

Remember when everyone in Hollywood was pregnant? Now, they all seem to be engaged. The most recent starlet to get a ring put on it is the always-stylish Carey Mulligan, whose engagement to Mumford & Sons’ Marcus Mumford was announced yesterday.

A ton of other well-heeled celebs are planning to tie the knot, from Kim Kardashian to Sofia Coppola to Natalie Portman to Zoe Saldana. And since it’s currently wedding season, we thought this would be a good time to speculate on what dresses those celebs might wear down the aisle. Or, at least, what we would like them to wear.

Click through to see our picks!

It’s a Girl for Victoria Beckham! (Did Seinfeld or a Fashion Mag Influence the Name?)

It’s a Girl for Victoria Beckham! (Did Seinfeld or a Fashion Mag Influence the Name?)

The Beckham clan finally has a little more girl power. Many congrats to Victoria and David Beckham on their first baby girl, Harper Seven. She was born in L.A. on Sunday morning at 7:55 PST and weighed a healthy 7 lbs 10 oz. Victoria’s publicist tweeted the good news yesterday.

We’re sure you’re wondering about that name. The Beckhams don’t usually go for the most traditional names–their son Brooklyn was famously named after the place he was conceived, but we’re pretty sure that isn’t the case with little Harper (but who knows…). The Daily Mail writes, “A close friend of the couple said: ‘Harper is an old English name something Victoria has always liked. Seven is a very lucky happy number and the baby was born just after 7am, in the seventh month.’” The British paper even speculates the baby was named after Harper’s Bazaar magazine.

As for the “Seven” part, are the Beckhams just big Seinfeld fans?

Kate Hudson’s the New Face of Almay

Kate Hudson‘s the last starlet we’d peg for a beauty campaign—fresh faced is probably the first thing that comes to mind when looking at her. She’s the ultimate California girl with natural (perfect) blonde hair, blue eyes, shiny skin, and maybe a swipe of lip gloss. We guess that’s why she chose Almay, “Almay is Read more →

Red Carpet

People Want to Dress Like Sandra Bullock More Than Any Other Celebrity. Really.

The WSJ had an interesting story in its Thursday style column about which stars actually prompt shoppers to buy clothes. StyleSpot.com, a Los Angeles-based Web site that links red-carpet photos to e-commerce boutiques that sell the clothes–or something similar–told the journal that Sandra Bullock generates the most click-throughs. Kate Hudson and Drew Barrymore also top Read more →

Mid-Day Snack

Be Italian: We totally agree on the Penny Lane girl crush of course. We can’t even describe the levels of excitement we have for Nine. And Kate never fails to look super cute. Seriously this press tour is going to be out of control fashion-wise. {WhoWhatWear} Not That Lisa Kline: But the one who styled Read more →

Kate Gets Glam

Jezebel has a couple shots of Kate Hudson from the latest issue of Elle UK, coming out later this week. First, let me just say I barely recognized her, but I don’t mean that in an insulting way. She looks amazing, but not really all that much like the girl spotted night after night watching Read more →

Salty Dresses

When we saw November’s disastrous Vogue cover, we just assumed the women were too busy to get together in one place to shoot the image. We figured Nicole Kidman was on a beach in Australia, Marion in the South of France, Kate in Malibu etc., or maybe in a studio and then superimposed onto the Read more →

Explain

The Kids Are(n’t) Alright

This picture landed in my inbox because of the Bally bag Kate Hudson’s holding – which is cute – but I’m writing about it because of the kid. It’s from the set of a shoot for Harper’s Bazaar (I swear we’re not trying to belabor our Bazaar feelings; it just keeps coming up) in which Read more →
