What We Saw at NYFW, Day 4
Fashion Is Fun

What We Saw at NYFW, Day 4

It’s Day 4 of NYFW and we’re still kicking, though we have a few blisters now. It may have been our best day ever because we saw Naomi Campbell and David Beckham in the same 24 hour span. Are there two more gorgeous people on Earth? Aside from those pretty people (and some surprises, like Madonna’s baby Lourdes Leon), we also spotted covetable clothes at DKNY, Orla Kiely, and Antonio Azzuolo, and morning margaritas at Lyn Devon.

10 Best Dressed at the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards

The Kids’ Choice Awards Show is always one we look forward to when it comes to red carpet fashion because stars tend to go for more risky and playful styles. (Maybe it has to do with the possibility of getting slimed…)

Anyway, Saturday’s awards show was no exception: From Katy Perry in a slime-ified bra top by Gerlan Jeans, to Selena Gomez in midriff-baring Dolce & Gabbana and a super hot MObama in Wes Gordon, click through for our list of the 10 best dressed celebs at the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards.

6 Red Carpet Hair Trends and How to Get Them

We’re right smack in the middle of awards season, with the Golden Globes safely behind us. And unlike those complicated braids and tortured updos of previous years, a lot of these are looks that regular people can achieve in the comfort of their own homes without needing five stylists at your beck and call.

Charlotte Ronson Spring 2012: Western Girl Meets Downtown Cool

Charlotte Ronson Spring 2012: Western Girl Meets Downtown Cool

Charlotte Ronson has essentially built a career designing for her friends–which isn’t such a bad thing when you consider who we’re talking about here: Margherita Missoni, Kelly Osbourne, Joy Bryant, Whitney Port and Nicky Hilton were among the designer’s pals who came to show support at Ronson’s spring 2012 show. And that’s not even counting the Ronson bloodline, which, with Sam Ronson DJ’ing the event and Annabelle Dexter-Jones walking, was in full force.

But while the celebrities were easy to spot, the actual collection was a bit harder to pin down.

Zac Posen Spring 2012: Back to his Red Carpet Roots

Zac Posen is back, y’all. After a several season exile stint in Paris, Posen returned to New York, the city that made him famous. Perhaps too famous, at least according to a recent rather scathing Page Six article that painted him as a petulant child who antagonized the fashion industry to the point that he was ostracized from the people that once adored him.

Perhaps this collection will bring them back. The European contingent, Emmanuelle Alt and Anna Dello Russo, were at Posen’s Sunday evening show, as was Hamish Bowles. The show, which was held on an outdoor balcony overlooking the Lincoln Center fountain, was a lovely way to spend a cool Sunday evening. Once the lights dimmed and the chamber music soundtrack started, it got even lovelier.

Kelly Osbourne On What Not to Wear on the Red Carpet and Madonna’s Secret Nickname

While waiting for Zac Posen’s show to start on the open air balcony of Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center (review and pix to come) , we had the chance to chat with front-rower Kelly Osbourne. She’s ascended the fashion food chain as an E! red carpet interviewer and morning-after Fashion Police lady. She’s also the face of Madonna’s Material Girl label, so she rubs shoulders with some pretty fashion forward people. We had to ask her about what all this recent experience taught her about fashion.

Fashionista: Have you been to any shows yet this season?
Kelly Osbourne: I was at Charlotte Ronson last night and that was great. I just decided to do one show a day this week because it’s too much otherwise and I just want to have fun and enjoy it. So I’ve just picked the ones that I really, really, really wanted to see. Unfortunately some of them are all at the same time.

How has doing red carpet commentary changed the way you look at fashion or the way you dress?

A Roundup of All the Folks Who Have Dared to Diss the Duchess from Vivienne Westwood to Kelly Osbourne

It goes without saying that the world (us included) has gone a little mad for Kate Middleton. The Duchess’ high-low accessibly style has earned her spots on a bajillion Best Dressed Lists, including Vanity Fair’s, as well as a cult-like chronicling of her daily outfits on countless blogs (again, ours included). She’s so popular that it seems not approving of her would be akin to social suicide. However, not everyone is a fan. Check out our roundup of those who’ve dared to diss Duchess Catherine and what they’ve had to say.

Vivienne Westwood

After the Royal Wedding: “I would have loved to have dressed Kate Middleton, but I have to wait until she catches up in style a bit.”
In a recent interview with The Sunday Times “I think she’s got a problem with eye make-up! The sharp line around her eyes make her look hard. Either she should be smudgy or wear none…Let me put it this way. It seems to me that her image is ‘ordinary woman’. Therefore, high street shopper. And I just think she should be an extraordinary woman, wherever she gets her clothes from.”

Happy 30th, MTV! To Celebrate, the 30 Most Memorable Model/Musician Couples

We’re sure that when cavemen banged out rhythms on old animal skulls, all the most gorgeous cave girls immediately came running. While musicians have never had a hard time picking up women, it’s safe to say MTV made it easier for them. The era of the model/musician relationship bloomed during the MTV era–models and musicians were frequently thrown together during video shoots, which was a job that hadn’t existed for models before.

MTV just turned 30, and to honor the music channel which helped to give musicians faces and personalities, here’s our roundup of the 30 best (and strangest) model/musician pairings through the years.

“I’m the girliest tomboy you’ll ever meet”: Kelly Osbourne On How She Became The Face of Madonna’s Material Girl Line

LOS ANGELES–In January, it was revealed that Kelly Osbourne would replace everyone’s favorite Disney star-turned-stripper heel wearing rocker Taylor Momson as the face of Madonna and daughter Lourdes’ teen line for Macy’s Material Girl. Last night, Osbourne spoke to a group of tweens at a launch party for the new Material Girl spring collection in the Macy’s Beverly Center Juniors Department—just to the left of the Jessica Simpson section.

In a Q&A lead by Project Runway alum and FIDM Instructor Nick Verreos, Osbourne revealed how she came to land the campaign, meeting Madonna, and how tweens should dress.

The 26-year old Osbourne can thank little Lola–not Madge–for thinking of her for the campaign. Osbourne had never event spoken to Madonna until they were on the set of the campaign shoot. “I have been in a room with her before, but I have been too shy to say ‘hi,’” Kelly admitted to Verreos.

It was Lola, a big fan of Osbourne’s (she gushed about her on her blog for Material Girl), who sought out Osbourne for the gig after they met at a Jay-Z concert in London back in July 2010.

Why Jane Seymour Will Cover the Royal Wedding for ET Instead of Joan Collins

Why Jane Seymour Will Cover the Royal Wedding for ET Instead of Joan Collins

Every entertainment news show is lining up their royal wedding coverage. After all, Kate Middleton and Wills’ big day is just under a month and a half away now.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ET had initially looked at Joan Collins to be its correspondent for the big day (which would be awesome). Unfortunately, when OG diva Collins allegedly demanded a first-class ticket to London from LA, the show set their sights on someone else. Now Jane Seymour will cover the wedding for ET and Sharon Osbourne will be The Insider‘s lady on the scene (though we’d rather watch her daughter Kelly).

Both Seymour and Osbourne have released statement regarding their upcoming gigs:
