Kardashian Magazine Deal with AMI Dead Because Kris Wanted Too Much Kontrol

Looks like Kris Jenner doesn’t get her way all the time. Early this month we learned that the Kardashians were shopping a Kardashian mag, with all editorial content to be supplied (and controlled) by the Kardashians themselves.

What had people scratching their heads was that the negotiations were reportedly taking place with American Media Inc. (AMI), who owns Star (among other titles). Star broke the story about the Kardashians allegedly using child labor sweatshops to produce some of their products, and the back-and-forth got pretty ugly. So why would the family want to work with a company that was publishing such unsavory stuff about them?

Who Will Kapitalize on ‘K’? Karl Lagerfeld Is Giving the Kardashians a Run for Their Money

Who Will Kapitalize on ‘K’? Karl Lagerfeld Is Giving the Kardashians a Run for Their Money

Today’s WWD has a sneak peek at Karl Lagerfeld’s new lower-priced womenswear line, Karl, and it seems that his growing fashion empire is becoming Kardashian-esque in many ways. In addition to developing a comparable number of fashion lines and licensing deals (albeit of better quality, we hope), Karl has apparently adopted the letter ‘K,’ the Kut Cut, has noticed. As in, according to WWD, Karl’s “K-riddled” brand book includes descriptors like “ironiK,” “artistiK” and “aKcessible.”

This of course begs the question: who deserves the privilege of using the letter ‘k’ to replace the letter ‘c’ wherever possible, Karl Lagerfeld or the Kardashians? I don’t think there is enough room in this business for both of them to overuse this konsonant, so here are our arguments for each party:

Fashion News Roundup: Another Lohan in Page Six, the Olsens Have No Holiday Traditions, and Kate Middleton Needs a Lot of Christmas Outfits

Ali Lohan Will Cover Page Six Mag: Ali – excuse me – Aliana Lohan, who will cover Page Six Mag in the NY Post tomorrow, says she and big sis Lindsay “talk to each other about everything.” Do I smell a future tell-all memoir in the works?? {NY Post}

Marks & Spencer Lingerie Ad Banned in UK: The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) has banned yet another racy ad, this time for M&S lingerie. Isn’t this the same country that managed to change the focus of April’s Royal Wedding from the bride and groom to the maid of honor’s ass? IDGI. {Telegraph}

Elizabeth Olsen Doesn’t Have Any Holiday Traditions: Elizabeth Olsen says that her family doesn’t have any holiday traditions. Are we really supposed to believe the Olsens don’t gather ’round the fire with some kettle corn for an annual viewing of To Grandmother’s House We Go? Sorry Liz, I’m not buying it. {FabSugar}

Kim Kardashian Made $12,600 On eBay As A Teenager, Rachel Roy’s Cool With High Street Copies and More from Lucky’s FABB Event

Kim Kardashian Made $12,600 On eBay As A Teenager, Rachel Roy’s Cool With High Street Copies and More from Lucky’s FABB Event

Lucky hosted its second Fashion and Beauty Bloggers conference yesterday in NYC, rounding up serious star power into discussion panels moderated by the mag’s editors.

Designers Diane von Furstenberg, Rebecca Minkoff, and Rachel Roy were among the speakers, as were nail polish guru Essie Weingarten, Man Repeller Leandra Medine, and Rachel Zoe’s other half Rodger Berman.

Oh, and the Kardashian sisters, the magazine’s mildly famous October cover girls, who arrived with an E! camera crew and dozens of printed release forms in tow. Without further ado, some of our favorite takeaways from the day:

The Kardashians really do behave like their on-screen personalities. Khloe tacked on “work it baby!” and other outlandish comments to her sisters’ answers, making the crowd laugh whenever possible. Also like her TV persona, Khloe was the most candid and forthright, saying she loves accessories the most out of everything in her closet, because “no matter what weight [she goes] go up to”, her “bags and shoes always fit”. Amen.

The Kardashian’s Officially Launch Their Sears Kollection in NYC–And It’s Already Selling Out

The Kardashian sisters officially launched their Kardashian Kollection for Sears at their campaign photographer Annie Liebovitz’s studio in the meatpacking district Tuesday night. And while I, and most of the guests at the press preview, had gotten soaked through thanks to an unending downpour, Kim, Kourtney and Khloe looked impeccably coiffed and, yes, chic in their Sears’ togs–not to mention enviably dry.

Since the Kardashians are a family that sticks together, mama Kris was there too–looking super hot in that black polka-dot sheer Stella McCartney–and so was Kourtney’s beau Scott Disick.

The sisters were on publicist lock-down and not talking to any reporters (save the NYT, sad face), so we happily chatted with Bruno Schiavi–the designer who worked with the sisters to produce their Sears collection.

Kim, Kourtney and Khloe might be sisters by they’ve got different styles. “Kim’s Hollywood, Kourtney’s the bohemian and Khloe’s the rocker,” Schiavi explained, “and we tried to blend them together.”

And it seems they blend well. Even though the collection has only been on Sears’ shelves for less than a week, items from the collection have already sold out–before the official launch.

Annie Leibovitz to Host Kardashian Kollection Launch Party (Plus a Super Sexy Behind-the-Scenes Video of the Campaign)

The Kardashian Kollection for Sears just launched, and the campaign was shot by the legendary Annie Leibovitz. While this may seem surprising, the Kardashians are money, so why not promote them with the best imagery possible?

The girls will be feted by Sears and Leibovitz with a pre-fashion week party next week at the photographer’s own studio. Let’s hope this means we’ll see them in some front rows at the shows. As reality stars go, a Kardashian sighting is much better than a Real Housewife.

Check out their campaign shoot video below, courtesy of Elle. It features the girls lolling around on the ground (a questionable look, because when you lie down, things spread a bit–but they seem to be pulling it off), smoldering on a couch, and stomping Tyra-like in leopard looks.

Is It Okay to Wear White to a Wedding Now (When You’re Not the Bride, Duh)? Kim Kardashian, Kate Moss and Kate Middleton All Seem To Think It Is

Is It Okay to Wear White to a Wedding Now (When You’re Not the Bride, Duh)? Kim Kardashian, Kate Moss and Kate Middleton All Seem To Think It Is

Wearing white to a wedding when you’re not that bride? It’s the cardinal wedding sin. Or it was.

Kate Middleton famously had her bridesmaids wear white–and we don’t have to tell you how well that went over, particularly for a certain, um, callipygian Maid of Honor.

Two months later the other Kate–Kate Moss, of course–also dressed her bridesmaids and flower girls (all 15 of them) in white. Guests Carine Roitfeld, Bella Freud, Naomi Campbell and Stella McCartney were also spotted wearing the shade at the wedding.

And now Kim Kardashian has jumped on the bandwagon, choosing white gowns that look remarkably like wedding dresses for her bridesmaids at recent nuptials. And while limited photos of Kim K‘s big wedding have been released, we already know that at least Lindsay Lohan wore white, and apparently the invite called for guests to wear black or white.

So what’s going on here?

Kim Kardashian Got Married! Check Out the First Pics and Video of Kim and Her Bridal Party

Kim Kardashian and NBA player Kris Humphries exchanged vows and Lorraine Schwartz wedding bands in front of 450 guests in a reportedly $10 million ceremony on a private estate in Montecito, CA Saturday. (Of course, Kardashian Ink., made $18 million off the wedding, the New York Post is reporting, so they still came out with a profit).

We may not know exactly how those vows sounded and looked until E!‘s two-part special, set to air October 9 and 10. But, we already have an idea of of what Kim and her family wore. Kim, who we’ve known for a while would wear Vera Wang, chose a strapless ball gown with full tulle skirt and basque waist with hand-pieced Chantilly lace applique on the bodice and train. Pretty! Bridesmaids Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall and Kylie also wore long strapless white gowns, as did the mother of the bride–though hers had a gigantic white bow on the front.

The groom wore an Ermenegildo Zegna tuxedo with a white jacket and tie. Mason Disick also wore white and was easily one of the wedding’s best dressed, if you ask us. Official wedding photos will be in the September 5 issue of People, which hits newsstands Friday. For now click through for all the video and photos all courtesy of E!.

Have We Reached Kardashian Saturation? Now Mom Kris Kardashian-Jenner’s Has Her Own Line for QVC–Take A Look

Have We Reached Kardashian Saturation? Now Mom Kris Kardashian-Jenner’s Has Her Own Line for QVC–Take A Look

Just what the world needs: Another Kardashian clothing line. Mother Kris, who recently hyphenated her last name to include Kardashian, is launching a line with QVC this fall.

The Kris Jenner Kollection (yes, it’s really called that) will include such staples from Kris’ wardrobe as black leggings, white button-downs and black blazers–all of which the Kardashian matriarch frequently sports on her family’s popular reality TV show. The line will launch on QVC’s live New York Fashion Week broadcast on Sept. 8, and, like a true self-promoting Kardashian, Kris will promote her kollection by wearing it throughout the new season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and tweeting about it.

The pieces will range from $35 to $140, and while we could live without the zippered leggings (seriously, why does every celebrity line have to have them? ahem, Lohan) there are a few pieces from the line that actually kind of work, like the sleeveless Tuxedo dress, shown in the look book.

Besides being at war with the letter C, Kris Kardashian-Jenner revealed to WWD that she has some other rather lofty goals:

Adventures in Kopyright: Kardashian Kollection Rips Off Botkier

The bag on the left is Botkier’s ‘Trigger Clyde,’ which debuted in Fall 2009. The bag on the right is from Sears’ Kardashian Kollection, which hit stores this week. See the problem?

Botkier certainly does. The contemporary womenswear brand, which launched in 2004, took to their blog to vent: “We just discovered how our Botkier ‘Clyde’ was simply copied by Kardashian Kollection for Sears. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery but we don’t think so…”

Best Dressed: Teen Choice Awards

Don’t let the name fool you: The Teen Choice Awards are not just for the tweens anymore. Actually, over the past few years the Teen Choice Awards have emerged as one of our favorite red carpets to watch because celebrities take more risks on this carpet, new starlets make their debuts, and the prizes are surfboards, for god’s sake. Need we say more?

The only thing that bummed us out this year is that some of our favorite actual teen stars–Elle Fanning, Hailee Steinfeld among them–were absent.

Check out our favorite looks from last night’s award show.
