Olivier Theyskens Apparently Knows Who’s Designing Kate Middleton’s Dress: Styleite caught up with Theyskens at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of Karl Lagerfeld’s Magnum ice cream films, and he fessed up that he knew who was designing the dress. Maybe one more chocolate cocktail and he might have blurted the name. {Styleite}

Adweek’s Top Ten Most Influential Magazines. Plus, Joanna Coles Gets Editor of the Year: Joanna Coles, EIC of Marie Claire, is called the “anti-chic, anti-Anna” by AdWeek (and they mean it as a compliment.) Mags that made the list? Marie Claire, People StyleWatch, Cosmopolitan, and Vanity Fair, among others. No Vogue, though. *gasp* {AdWeek}

No Such Thing As Standard Sizing: No doubt you’ve come across vanity sizing and arbitrary sizing while shopping for clothes. A new full body scanner is hitting malls to tell you which size you are in specific brands. (And a fun factoid: If you have a 27 inch waist you’re a size 8-10 at Marc Jacobs, but a size triple zero at Chico’s.) {NYT}

The 15 Most Buzzed About Models of 2010

I don’t like to do a lot of end of year reflecting about anything, except maybe all the shoes I wish I had bought but didn’t (a girl can dream, right?), but 2010 has seen some major model mayhem.

2010 saw more diversity in the typically cookie-cutter world of modeling. Was it perfect? Of course not, but the modeling industry may be taking much needed steps into the right direction. The top models of 2010 came in all body types, genders, ethnicities, ages, and sexual orientations, proving that there’s a lot more to being a successful model than a symmetrical face and a size zero frame.

Click though to see our list of the models that made made it big in 2010.

The British Fashion Awards: Who Won What

The British Fashion Awards: Who Won What

At last night’s British Fashion Awards, the UK’s version of our CFDA awards (read: fashion Oscars), the ladies swept the show. According to Hilary Alexander at the Telegraph, last night’s awards were the strongest female showing since the awards were established in 1974.

Phoebe Philo, creative director for Céline, took home the top prize winning “Designer of the Year.” Alexa Chung took home the British Style award, an award decided by public vote which, according to the British Fashion Council, “recognises an individual who embodies the spirit of London and is an international ambassador for London as a leading creative fashion capital.” Naomi Campbell took home the new “special recognition” award and Lara Stone was named model of the year.

Of course the boys got a few nods, too. Here, the complete list of winners:

Fashion News Roundup: Nordstrom To NYC, What Designers Will Wear on Halloween, & An Isabella Blow Biopic Is In The Works

SoHo Gets a Nordstrom: New York City is finally getting a Nordstrom. Except it’s not just any ordinary Nordstom–it’s a concept shop with a charity angle. The store will donate all of its earnings to charity. While most of the details are not yet worked out, the store will occupy 11,100 square feet at 350 West Broadway. {Racked}

When Designers Get Into Costume: With Halloween only a few days away, T Magazine asked some of their favorite designers what they were going to be for Halloween. Pamela Love is going as Georgia O’Keeffe, Joseph Altuzarra will dress as wolf from Little Red Riding Hood, Eddie Borgo is going to go as Pee Wee Herman and Chris Benz is deciding between a matador and a bellhop . {T Magazine}

Isabella Blow Biopic: There has been a lot of rumors surrounding the making of a biopic focusing on the life of the late Isabella Blow. Apparently, it’s really happening. The film’s director and producers have all been chosen, and the screenplay has already been written. Set to be involved in the film are John Galliano and Philip Treacy, both who were very close to Blow. {The Cut}

Kanye West Only Follows 15 People on Twitter and They’re All Models

Kanye West Only Follows 15 People on Twitter and They’re All Models

Kanye West has always been into following models. He dates models. He watches them on the runways during fashion week. He raps about them, shouting out 21 models by name in his new single “Christian Dior Denim Flow.” And now he’s literally following models. On twitter.

West’s popular twitter is followed by 1.4 million people but right now he only follows 15 (he follows two different Alessandra Ambrosio handles). He’s notoriously picky about whom he deigns to follow on twitter, so it’s safe to say his chosen 15 are special people.

They happen to be very tall pretty people, too. They’re all top models that he named in his latest song, “Christian Dior Denim Flow”: Alessandra Ambrosio, Esti Ginzburg, Anna Rubik, Kate Moss, Coco Rocha, Bar Refaeli, Jourdan Dunn, Lara Stone, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Veronica Webb, Doutzen Kroes, Chanel Iman, Selita Ebanks and Jessica Stam.

Fashion News Roundup: Lanvin for H&M Trailer, More Sofia Coppola For LV, and Lara Stone Wants Little Gay Boys

Lanvin Hearts H&M Trailer: Remember when we told you about the competition H&M was holding offering an exclusive Lanvin video to the most popular blogger? Well, Zet Fashion was able to gather up enough votes to win exclusive rights run a cut of the Lanvin Hearts H&M trailer (the full vid debuts on November 8 at HM.com). The video shows Leigh Lezark pouring Alber Elbaz tea and it’s pretty amazing. {Racked}

More Sofia Coppola for LV: Sofia Coppola is a busy lady. In the past year she has given birth to her second child and directed her new film Somwhere. She’s also added more bags to her popular collection with Louis Vuitton. The expanded collection will offer more colors and shapes as well as her signature SC bag in luxe crocodile. {Daily Front Row}

Sally Singer’s First Issue at T: Rumors are floating around that Mick Jagger will grace the cover of Sally Singer’s first issue of T. {Fashionologie}

Lara Stone On Having Kids: Apparently, Lara Stone is all about having kids. Little gay boys, specifically. “I would love to have children some day,” she told British Vogue. “I’d like little gay boys. That would be good. I’m terrified of having a little girl. Girls are more evil than boys. And then they have boyfriends.” {The Cut}

Marc Works Hard For the Money: It sounds like Marc’s seventies infatuation will carry over to tomorrow’s Vuitton show. Supposedly, his inspiration for the collection was disco sensation Donna Summer. {Daily Front Row}

Dov Charney Continues to Dodge Bullets: American Apparel will not file for bankruptcy thanks to an alteration of their agreement with lenders at Lion Capital. The agreement sounds like it came with some conditions. “We are working together with Dov to realign the capital structure of American Apparel to support a number of key initiatives within the business, including the hiring of several new senior executives,” said partner Lyndon Lea. Sure this is all great news for the company and its patrons, but this doesn’t in any way mean the end of all of American Apparel’s problems. {NY Mag}
