A Devil Wears Prada Sequel Is Really Happening

Finally, nearly 10 years after Lauren Weisberger penned her bestselling novel, The Devil Wears Prada, she’s giving it a sequel. Weisberger is in the process of writing Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, Entertainment Weekly is reporting, to be published by Simon & Schuster in April 2013.

The new book catches up with former Runway assistant-to-the-editrix Andy eight years after she’s parted ways with her demanding boss Miranda Priestly. Though Andy is now the editor of a bridal mag, she’s still “haunted” by ‘Ice Queen’ Priestly– famously inspired by Vogue’s EIC, to whom Weisberger was once a real-life assistant. Sounds like Anna Wintour’s mind-controlling abilities last longer than even we could’ve imagined.

There’s no film sequel in the works just yet…

We get anonymous tips all the time. But usually when someone tips us off and asks us to include his info, he typically doesn’t still work for the company that he’s narking on.

Reader Warren sent us a link to his eBay page yesterday, revealing that he nabbed an old issue of Vogue with Lauren Weisberger on the masthead while an intern at the glossy. He also said in his email to us:

“If you do decide to post it as a story, my info is below in my signature.”

We assumed that meant he was no longer associated with Vogue. But we were wrong.

Apparently the college student was interning at GQ this semester, and he just got canned when his superiors found out about the stunt. In normal circumstances, we would feel bad for printing his name, but it seems like he might have wanted this to happen? Very strange.

Ok, so this headline might be a little misleading. This edition of American Vogue that just went up on eBay is not super old. There’s nothing truly remarkable about this 2000 edition of Vogue save the masthead. Lauren Weisberger, she of The Devil Wears Prada fame is listed as one of the assistants to the Editor in Chief. Amy Astley’s on there too as the Beauty Director.

“In Short…THIS IS A VINTAGE ISSUE, before The Devil Wears Prada or Teen Vogue even came into existence. Carmen Kass is the cover model, and its 274 pages of good fashion from 2000. If your a magazine junkie like me, this is your time to jump on it guys,” reads the listing.
