To keep things light on this day of heavy feasting, we asked some of our favorite people in the industry what fashion things (what else?) they’re thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Unplanned Party Report: Displaced Downtown Fashion People Move the Party Uptown, Take Over the Carlyle

Unplanned Party Report: Displaced Downtown Fashion People Move the Party Uptown, Take Over the Carlyle

Any planned fashion events or parties may have been cancelled this week in the wake of Sandy, but that didn’t mean fashion people weren’t up for a night out.

A Lower East Side refugee myself, I stopped by The Carlyle last night for a drink around 8 expecting to be surrounded by upper east side regulars and maybe a couple of the fashion people and celebrities rumored to be holed up in the iconic hotel. Instead, I felt like I was at a downtown fashion week after party.

Lana del Rey Silences the Nay-Sayers at Her Intimate H&M Campaign Celebration

When H&M billed the fĂȘte for their new Lana del Rey-led campaign as an “exclusive and private performance,” they weren’t kidding. Held at The Wooly in downtown Manhattan, the party and four-song micro set accompanying it was so intimate, we felt a little uncomfortable leaving our balled-up napkins on the end tables.

And after the brief performance, the crowd’s verdict rang loud and clear…

Fashion News Roundup

Gwyneth Paltrow is the New Face of Max Factor, The Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine Designs a Line, and Anna Wintour is Obama’s Top Bundler

We knew Anna Wintour was a major contributor to the Obama campaign, but just how much has she raised? Well, to put it lightly: a lot.{The Cut}, {NY Times}

The Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine has teamed up with contemporary label PJK (formerly Patterson J. Kincaid) to create a new line for Spring, aptly (and hilariously) called MR x PJK…Just Sayin’. We assume it will be appropriately man-repelling, so wear with caution. {WWD}

Check out this super cool video, shot backstage and on the runway, that was made with the Google Glasses Diane von Furstenberg had on runway. So that’s what they were there for! {HuffPo}

Theyskens’ Theory Spring 2013

The Clothes: Olivier Theyskens took a decidedly more sophisticated turn this season. Gone were the baggy jeans, and denim hot pants and in their stead were expertly tailored pantsuits and form-fitting shift dresses. Of course, because this is Theyskens, this wasn’t your average workwear attire–the suits, which were either roomy or super-fitted, had a carefree Read more →

Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2013

Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2013

The Clothes: Rebecca Minkoff’s vision for spring is sporty and flirty all at once, with a subtle nod to the 1970s. There was no shortage of prints–think saturated florals and boho prints in indigo and red, all contrasted with plenty of starchy whites. Nostalgia came through in the form of fringed hems and flared pants. Read more →
