Rutgers to Offer Course on Beyoncé: Now here’s a class we wouldn’t have regularly skipped when we were undergrads: a Rutger’s University professor is teaching a course on the significance of Beyoncé Knowles in regards to black feminism, studying her lyrics against the works of historical black female figures like Alice Walker and Sojourner Truth. Her husband, Jay-Z also has a course on him offered at Georgetown University. Next up: A seminar at Wesleyan examining how Blue Ivy Carter paved the way for infant musicians. {Sister 2 Sister}

Megan Fox Will Not Play Elizabeth Taylor: The actress took to Facebook to deny claims that she is in talks with Lifetime producers to play Elizabeth Taylor for their upcoming biopic, Liz and Dick. Looks like Lindsay Lohan might soon be getting some much-needed work after all! {ONTD}

ELLE France Removes Controversial Black Fashion Article: After facing much public scrutiny, ELLE France has removed their ‘Black Fashion Power’ article, which credited the Obamas for finally influencing black people to retire their Apple Bottom jeans, boots with the fur and “[return] to style with a sense of dignity.” ELLE‘s editor claims the article was “misinterpreted” (there seems to be a lot of that going around these days), but we’re pretty sure we got what author Nathalie Dolvio was trying to say the first time. {The Cut}

Zappos Gets Hacked: 24 million accounts were affected Monday when a hacker let loose on the online shoe store. Names, addresses, phone numbers, and partial credit card numbers were accessed, causing the e-tailer to encourage its customers to change their password information for the Zappos site, as well as modify passwords for accounts on other sites if they were the same. We will never understand the motives behind hacking, but whoever caused all this trouble better have ordered themselves a good pair of Nikes to run in once the cops come looking for them! {CNN Money}

First Look: Lindsay Lohan Gets ‘Sexy and Transgressive’ in Philipp Plein’s Spring Campaign

Here it is! Lindsay Lohan’s, er, hotly anticipated campaign for German label Philipp Plein just dropped. You’ll recall that back in September during Milan’s fashion week, she was snapped behind-the-scenes at the campaign shoot at Lake Como. Philipp Plein had no shortage of superlatives for Lohan and the collection. Here’s a sampling: “magnetic charm,” “irresistibly sexy,” “refined and transgressive.” What is weirdest about all this is that in the release, which is in sort of choppy English, it states: “Not a chance meeting, since Lindsay Lohan has known and loved the young German designer’s collection for some time.” The NY Post had reported back in September that she never heard of the line prior to getting the call to be its face. Lindsay Lohan Is in Talks to Play Elizabeth Taylor–Can She Pull It Off?

She’s channeled Marilyn Monroe on more than one occassion and now Lindsay Lohan may get the chance to tackle another iconic Hollywood legend: Elizabeth Taylor. She’s in talks to play Taylor on the small screen in an upcoming Lifetime movie titled Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed. The film will reportedly chronicle Taylor’s relationship with Richard Burton.

Is Lindsay Lohan Finally Getting Her S**t Together? A Look Back at her Sartorial Progress in 2011

Lindsay Lohan spent most of 2011 the same way she spent most of 2010: in and out of courtrooms. Even though she served a few days of jail time and spent three months in Betty Ford last year, she emerged from the rehab center in January with plenty of court hearings ahead of her, and a slew of heavily scrutinized courtroom outfits.

Our friends at Above the Law recently offered their take on Lindsay’s most memorable courtroom outfits and their subsequent media scrutiny. Although she left her “Fuck you” manicure back in 2010, the legal blog found fault with the short hemlines, form-fitting silhouettes and apparent distaste for bras Lohan flaunted in the beginning of the year. However, as ATL suggests, her lawyers may have given her some advice (that she actually listened to) because her latest courtroom outfit is a far cry from the questionable Basic Instinct number below.

We’re not sure if it’s her supposed sobriety, her sanity is slowly returning or she’s starting to learn from her mistakes, but it looks like Lohan’s trainwreck days could maybe finally be behind her.

The 17-year-old newly minted model signed with the Next agency back in August, and she’s just landed her first cover, on quarterly arts and style mag, Fault, E! reports.
