The 5 Biggest Hair Trends from the 2013 Awards Season

Perhaps in an antidote to the more outlandish “look at me” aesthetic that has permeated fashion runways the past few seasons (see: dip dyed hair, ombré, complicated braiding and topknots), celeb hair this past awards season was largely unaffected and unfussy, with stars sticking to simple hairstyles and less ornamentation. A return to ease only means that impeccable styling, the right hair care, and a good haircut are all the more important.

Help for Your (Damaged) Heat-Styled Hair Is Here!

We bet you own and use at least one heat styler, like a blow dryer or flat iron. (Or like us, maybe you use both–eek!–on a daily basis.) While they’re amazing tools, they can really wreak havoc on your hair. Luckily there are ways you can prevent damage, and if you do go overboard, L’Oreal Paris has tons of products to get your hair back in J.Lo shape fast.

Check out our tips for preventing your hair from getting fried by heat styling tools, as well as how to treat your frizzled locks.

L’Oreal Paris’ New Hair Treatments Will Help You Combat Dry Winter Hair

L’Oreal Paris’ New Hair Treatments Will Help You Combat Dry Winter Hair

Whether your idea of “extreme” winter weather is a chilly 53 degrees in Los Angeles or a blistering 14 degrees in New York, the cold air, wind, and dry indoor heat can make moisture disappear from your hair faster than Grace Coddington can say, “I love cats.” And less moisture in your hair means less of a lot of other things, including shine, smooth ends, and softness. If you’re also a heat styling junkie, your poor parched locks will definitely need some love this season.

To help you fight the battle against dry hair, L’Oreal Paris created the Power Moisture line, the first clinically tested hair treatment line that’s formulated with hyaluronic acid, that magical moisture ingredient that’s found in many skin care products.

Keeping Yourself in the Red: How to Maintain 2013’s Hottest Hair Colors

You may have heard that red is one of the hottest hair colors for 2013. But it’s not easy to maintain–as a matter of fact, it’s one of the hardest hair colors to preserve. And the reason has to do with molecules: We’re not going to get all Bill Nye the Science Guy on you, but in layman’s terms, the red hair color molecule is larger and heavier than any other color, making it harder to effectively penetrate a hair shaft (and thus, dye your hair).

The secret to keeping yourself in the red, brown, blonde, rainbow, or any other hair color this season is to arm yourself with the proper tools, like L’Oreal Paris’s Color Vibrancy line.

Take Your Hair to the Next Level with L’Oreal Paris’ New Advanced Haircare Line

You cleanse, exfoliate, use makeup remover, wash, apply serum, moisturizer, masks, and eye cream to your face. That is, if you’re doing it “correctly.” But for your hair? Most of us are lucky if we use shampoo and conditioner, with an occasional styling product.

In response to the white space in the market for full hair care systems with specifically targeted hair solutions, L’Oreal Paris came up with Advanced Haircare. Eight patents and test results from 5,000 women later, they created five Advanced Haircare lines, each with effective and transforming treatments, for the most common hair issues.

Don’t Get Burned by the New FDA Sunscreen Guidelines: Here’s Everything You Need to Know

It’s summer and I already have a bad farmer tan and some new freckles to prove it, thanks to a careless (and hatless) weekend spent in the suburbs with friends. It’s time to stock up on sunscreen, and while it’s not the sexiest beauty product out there, it’s a necessary evil–unless you want wrinkles, weird dark spots…oh and don’t forget cancer. We know–you’ve heard all this before.

What you may not have heard is that the way you are using sunscreen needs to change.

The UK’s ASA Slams a Rachel Weisz for L’Oreal Ad for ‘Unrealistic Retouching’

The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has taken yet another cosmetics company to task for its false advertising, WWD is reporting. Instead of taking an overprotective role over too-young girls being featured in precarious situations (like Dakota Fanning’s Marc Jacobs Oh Lola! ad or Hailee Steinfeld in that “irresponsible” Miu Miu ad), this time they’re Read more →

Fashion News Roundup: Jourdan Dunn Covers i-D, Nicole Richie Named ‘Influencer of the Year,’ and Designer Teddy Bears

Jourdan Dunn and Saskia de Brauw Cover i-D‘s Winter Issue: Joining the ranks of Hailey Clausen and Anja Rubik, Miss Dunn and de Braw’s shots account for two of the six covers from the magazine’s “Winter Warm Up” issue. Jourdan’s makeup is giving us vitamins A-E right now! We love it! {Models}

Rihanna Wears a Onesie, Goes On Vacation: Take a look at some behind-the-scenes shots of Riri on her Loud tour. The best pics include her chillin’ in the studio in a onesie and a full face of makeup. There are also some lovely personal photos of her on vacation in Italy with her friends (she wears a lot of swimsuits, shops for pottery, and generally acts naughty). {Rihanna Facebook}

Nicole Richie Named “Influencer of the Year”: ‘Tis a rare thing to see a celebrity accessories line truly produce anything worthy of note, but Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960 is certainly an exception. The Accessories Council has honored her with the “Influencer of the Year” award, for consistently producing unique pieces we actually want to wear. {The Fashion Spot}

Exclusive: Here Are the Honorees for ELLE‘s ‘Women in Hollywood’ Event (Hint: There’s an Olsen!)

It’s no secret that fashion and movies–and the actresses who make them–go hand-in-hand. ELLE knows this well, and is hosting its 18th annual Women in Hollywood event, co-sponsored by L’Oreal Paris, the Calvin Klein Collection, and David Yurman.

It’s a glam girl-power event every year that honors women’s achievements in film. “As has long been our tradition, this year we honor an extraordinary group of women who continue to redefine what is possible in Hollywood,” said ELLE editor-in-chief Robbie Myers (via a release). “From icons to stars to emerging talent, we are thrilled to celebrate their contribution to understanding what it means to be a woman in the wider world.”

The ceremony will be held this year on Monday, October 17 at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills Hotel. We were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the lovely and talented ladies who are going to be honored next month.

And the honorees are…(*drumroll*):
