Lou Doillon

Are you ready for New York Fashion Week? Next Paris models Abbey Lee, Aline Weber, Anja Rubik, Arizona Muse, Hailey Clauson, Karlie Kloss, Lou Doillon (and many more) certainly are.

In this new NYFW pump-up video, directed by Sebastien Haddouk & Julien Gallico, the Next Paris models pose and primp in front of an imaginary mirror, dance like crazy, smell their pits and just kind of freak out in general. In other words, it’s exactly what goes on in our apartments before fashion week gets underway. Except, of course, we’re not supermodels–and sadly, unlike Karlie Kloss, we’re not sure we could pull off that slit-to-there Anthony Vaccarello dress quite so elegantly. (Seriously, does she live in that thing?)

Surprise! Vogue’s second annual special edition best dressed issue just hit newsstands and in addition to trend reports and a list of new style stars, Vogue has dubbed this year the “Year of the Sister.” The glossy is covered, appropriately, by everyone’s favorite stylish twin moguls Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, neither of whom have ever done a Vogue cover (weird, right?).

Of course, they’re not the only fashionable sisters deserving of attention. Inside, they also feature Dakota and Elle Fanning, Kate and Pippa Middleton, Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Lou Doillon, Bianca and Coco Brandolini, Poppy and Cara Delevigne, Lily and Ruby Alridge, Claire and Virginie Clarins, and Rooney and Kate Mara.

Click through for a few photos we scanned from inside the issue, plus a look back at some more of our favorite stylish sisters, from Anne and Mary Boleyn to Tia and Tamara Mowry. Read more »

Most people are content to go to Fashion Week and merely see the clothes. Not so these fashion A-listers. From Anna Dello Russo’s crazy swan hat to Anna Wintour’s pretty Prada skirt, this week saw models, editors and a socialite or two wearing Spring 2012 looks that had walked the runway mere days (or hours) beforehand.

It’s true critical reviews can make or break a collection–but so can one well-placed garment on an It Girl or fashion industry superstar. So it’s worth noting that Anna Wintour wore a Prada skirt (and that the Spring 2012 collection will no doubt be popping up sometime soon in Vogue)–or that despite getting generally slammed by critics, Dw by Kanye West seems to already have a few big-name fashion fans. Another name to jot down: Anthony Vaccarello, whose designs were favored by many an It girl and model. Vaccarello also won the ANDAM Fashion Award in July–but these recent endorsements have no doubt solidified him as a rising star in the industry.

Check out our favorite straight-off-the-runway looks as seen on many fashion notables. While the ladies certainly all look good, we shudder to think what this means for the already crazy pace of fashion design and production.

PARIS–You could almost feel the anticipatory buzz before Olivier Rousteing presented his first collection as creative director of Balmain yesterday. The young designer was an assistant at the label before he was named as Cristophe Decarnin‘s replacement last April. Decarnin polarized critics with his crazy expensive slashed tees, strong-shouldered cropped jackets and skinny jeans, but he also created a frenzy–”Balmania”–for the line (thanks also in part to Emmanuelle Alt‘s styling). Could Rousteing fill his shoes?

Best Dressed: London Fashion Week

Thursday, Feb 24, 2011 / 6:00 AM

Model Jade Parfitt looked cool and ladylike in Christopher Kane. Alexa Chung went casual for the Burberry show, making her Burberry Brights bag the star. Lou Doillon mixed Club Monaco and vintage effortlessly. Our new best friend Samantha Cameron pulled off Christopher Kane with aplomb. And Clemence Poesy made us all want to wear Mulberry forever. London’s street style is tops! xo, Fashionista

It’s been a very fashionable 2010, so to celebrate, we’ve decided to compile our first-ever list of the year’s best dressed. Professionally styled or not (most are not), these men and women have consistently gotten it right this year, or at the very least, impressed us with their individuality.

For each actor, musician, model or industry person on our list, we’ve selected five of his or her best looks from the past 12 months, so hopefully this list is also full of inspiration. In alphabetical order, we present to you our top 30 best dressed of the year.

H&M’s holiday campaign features Stella Tennant and her daughters Cecily and Jasmine, nine and seven. They’re meant to embody the “spirit of togetherness” theme that H&M is pushing for the quickly-approaching holiday season.

Of course, it’s not the first time model mothers and their kids have worked together in campaigns and editorials. So we decided to round up some of our favorite mother-daughter moments. One of them may surprise you.

Best Dressed: Paris Fashion Week

Friday, Oct 8, 2010 / 5:30 PM

It was tough to pick just five girls from Paris Fashion Week’s abundance of sartorial greatness, but we did our best. We have a hard time ever excluding Alexa Chung, who looked adorable at Miu Miu. Lou Doillon is a Paris fashion icon in her own right and did not disappoint at Chanel. Rachel Bilson looked lovely at Dior. Anja Rubik rocked long, flowy Chloé and Caroline Sieber got a head start on Spring’s white trend at Valentino.

This week, Paris was the place to be and black and white were the colors to wear. At Chanel couture, Blake and Lou kept it classy in Chanel jackets. At Valentino, Bianca Brandolini and Charlotte Dellal were gorgeous in looks from Spring ’11 and Fall/Winter ’10/’11, respectively. We made an exception for our fave Diane Kruger, who was not in Paris, but holding it down in Berlin in classic Calvin Klein. Click through to check them out.

We had pretty much lost faith in Gossip Girl. That was, until the last few episodes of the third season were ahhh-mazing.

Therefore, we were pretty excited to learn that Lou Doillon will make a cameo on GG this fall. (Thank you, WWD. Subscription required.)

There’s also a rumor circulating that Karl Lagerfeld might guest star as well. (You see, the CW series is filming in Paris.)

If that’s true, we will literally die. In that Rachel Zoe kind-of-way.
