Emma Stone, Karlie Kloss and More Hit the Red Carpet at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards

One of our favorite things about the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards besides, you know, celebrating some of the best new talents in the industry, is seeing what fashion’s inner circle will wear on the red carpet. Because when it’s a real fashiony event, like this one, everyone steps up her game.

Rebecca Taylor Fall 2012: A New Downtown Direction

When the music started pulsing at Rebecca Taylor’s fall/winter 2012 show, everyone’s heart skipped a beat. Perhaps the impactful opening was on purpose as the new Rebecca Taylor girl is anything but shy.

Gone were the frills and frippery of the brand’s heyday, replaced by a veritable army of Lower East Siders. And while the proportions sometimes missed the mark, often coupled with unfortunate lace-trimmed leggings, the new RT gal is confidently styled, unafraid of tweed peplums, velvet sweats and illusion frocks.

Exclusive: Glamour Names Louise Roe Fashion Editor-at-Large

Glamour’s got a flashy new hire to go along with their new look (the mag just revealed a redesign for the important March spring fashion issue). Louise Roe has been named Fashion Editor at Large, just in time for fashion week. You might remember her as the cheery Brit who “stole” Olivia Palermo’s “job” at Elle on The City, or more recently, as the host of the awesomely feel-good yet under-the-radar makeover show Plain Jane on the CW.

“Anne Christensen and I are so excited to have Louise on board just as we’re rolling out a new kind of Glamour,” Cindi Leive said of the hire. “Louise is both aspirational It-girl and accessible chic, which exactly sums up what we’re into at Glamour.”

Roe, 29, is obviously psyched.

Rebecca Taylor Spring 2012: Piecing It Together

Rebecca Taylor Spring 2012: Piecing It Together

Rebecca Taylor is nothing if not a girl’s girl, and she certainly knows how to please the ruffle-loving crowd. Exhibit A? Clad in appropriately embellished numbers, Louise Roe, Jordana Brewster, Ashley Tisdale, and (shocker!) Sophia Bush all sat front-row.

Still, the designer opted for a more eccentric, even slightly subversive–for her, mind you–direction this particular season. Rather than being worn traditionally as looped necklaces, for instance, long strands of pearls finished with a single colorful tassel were slung cross-body like a fancypants sash. I, for one, dug the look, and may even have to rock my favorite pearls in similar form sometime soon. Snakeskin-patterned leather popped up, too–here as a peplum apron top, there as a cropped cardi-jacket, and it all looked nicely finished. Continuing their winning streak after being declared the embellishment du jour at Prada’s fall show, champagne-colored paillettes appeared on tons of knit separates. They looked particularly cool on the open-weave cross-back tanks that showed a flash of skin in back–risqué, Rebecca!

Fashion News Roundup: Georgina Chapman Has a Girl, Lohan Covers Vanity Fair, and Julianne Moore’s Bulgari Ads Banned in Venice

India Pearl Chapman Arrives: It’s a girl for 34-year-old Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman and husband Harvey Weinstein. Her name is India Pearl Chapman and she’s Chapman’s first child (Weinstein has three girls from a previous marriage). The NY Post cites one anonymous “pal” as saying, “”Let’s all hope she looks like Georgina.” Thanks for saying what we were all thinking, “pal.” {NY Post}

Lohan’s First Post-Prison Cover: Lindsay Lohan graces the cover of Vanity Fair, giving the mag her first in depth post-jail interview. The shoot was Grace Kelley-inspired, and we’ve got to give it to Lilo, she looks the part. {Vanity Fair}

Lion Cubs and Handbags Are Inappropriate Cover-Ups in Venice: Julianne Moore’s campaign for Bulgari, in which the actress reclines naked covered only by lion cubs and a large Bulgari handbag, has been banned in Venice. “An advertisement showing a nude woman on a divan is not appropriate for St Mark’s Square,” Venice’s mayor Giorgio Orsoni told the Italian press. {The Telegraph}

Louise Roe on Leaving The City, Making Over “Plain Janes,” and Why Fashion On TV Doesn’t Have to be Mean

If you were bummed that City alum Louise Roe and her cheery British disposition didn’t stick around to oust Olivia Polermo as the face of Elle.com, you should check out her new show Plain Jane tomorrow night at nine. You might have missed the premiere of her new CW reality show Plain Jane due to premiere-hype over another certain fashion reality show on Bravo, but it’s worth tuning in tomorrow (or at least setting your DVR). It’s a fashion reality show that’s fun to watch not because it’s bitchy or insidery but because the “Plain Janes” are compelling and relatable and Roe transforms them with charm and a healthy sense of humor.

We talked to the rising fashion TV star about why she took on this project and ditched the City.

Fashionista: How do you set yourself apart from all the other outsized fashion personalities on TV (Rachel Zoe, Kelly Cutrone, Stacy London, Heidi Klum etc.,)?
Louise Roe: I don’t really think about setting myself apart to be honest – all those people you mention are brilliant, they have their own style, and I guess I also have mine. I suppose the English accent and sense of humor is a bit different.

Fashion Is Fun

Vogue‘s Cold Feet

Vogue.TV just launched their new series, 60 Seconds to Chic. This first episode features winter boots (in fact, it’s almost like a commercial for Sorrel), but styled for different Read more →
