Anna Wintour Brings On Eva Chen to Help Save Lucky Magazine

When Anna Wintour was promoted to Conde Nast’s artistic director she said her role would be like a “one-person consulting firm.” In addition to her duties as Vogue’s editor in chief and Teen Vogue‘s editorial director she would meet with the editors of Conde’s other titles to offer advice and strategy.

Lucky magazine, with its drop in ad pages over the last few years (the mag dropped 38 pages in 2012) and flagging circulation, is at the top of the list, it seems.

Lessons on Being a Better Fashion Blogger from Rachel Zoe, Lauren Conrad, Leandra Medine and More at Lucky FABB

At Lucky magazine’s Fashion and Beauty Blog Conference, bloggers came from all over the country to network and listen in on insight from speakers like the Macy’s CEO Terry Lundgren, Rachel Zoe, The Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine, Barneys’ Simon Doonan and reality TV star-turned-fashion designer/blogger Lauren Conrad. Naturally, awesomeness ensued. Here’s the four most important things I learned throughout the course of the day.

Lucky Magazine Responds to Accusations That They Fabricated a Reader’s Quote and Made Money Off of It

Earlier this week, Jezebel wrote a pretty scathing report on how a Lucky Magazine writer misconstrued a reader’s quote, which later found its way into the magazine. They printed the full email exchange between reader Rosemary Avance and writer Bobby Schuessler, which has started quite the controversy.

Here’s the gist of what happened:
Avance won a dress through Lucky Breaks back in February, and was scheduled to receive it in June. Schuessler reached out to her before she received the prize, and asked her for a quote about where she would wear the dress, and how great it was to win. Avance explained she couldn’t comment because she had yet to receive the dress, but when pressed, said it would be okay for Lucky to say that she “looks forward to wearing it dancing with girlfriends,” though she did stipulate that they could not say she had worn it yet.

Much to Avance’s surprise and dismay, the quote that made it into the magazine, beside her photo and full name, was this:

Quote of the Day: Before Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester Says She ‘Dressed Like a Homeless Person’

“Before the show I dressed like a homeless person. I used to buy everything at garage sales. It was hard to give up! I’d be like, ‘But this crazy sweater is amazing, and it only cost 25 cents!’”

Leighton Meester to Lucky on her thrifty pre-Gossip Girl wardrobe. With Blair Waldorf and the other Upper East Siders (and of course, that lowly Brooklynite Dan) going on a permanent Hamptons holiday after next season–sobbing, btw–will Leighton be returning to her hobo ways?

Fashion’s Most Stylish Guys Give Mark Zuckerberg an (Almost!) Hoodie-Free Makeover for Facebook’s IPO

Mark Zuckerberg is having quite a month. The Father of Facebook just turned 28, bought out Instagram for $1 billion and is now facing the most lucrative point in his career: Going IPO on Friday. We’d offer him a congratulatory “poke” but sadly, that option’s no longer available. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the IPO acronym, it stands for Initial Public Offering– meaning that the company will finally be open to stock holders where the likes of Wall Street—-and even you!—- can purchase a part of the social media company.

But with the estimated $100 billion that’s supposedly coming his way, we’re wondering whether the Harvard dropout will invest in a new wardrobe. Will he finally change out of his usual uniform consisting of dowdy college hoodies, sweat-drenched Adidas shower flip flops, and tattered baggy jeans, into something more uh, dapper? Better yet, the question posed is this: Can all the money in the world transform someone from HTML geek to sartorial chic? Fashionistas can only hope!

To give him an extra boost, we’ve enlisted the help of several fashion experts from designers like Carlos Campos, Alan Eckstein from Timo Weiland and Simon Kneen of Banana Republic, to editors from GQ and Esquire, to buyers and the likes to see what kind of advice they’d shed onto Silicon Valley’s hottest star. And regardless of whether he takes our suggestions or not (note to Marky Mark: you really, really should!), happy IPO Day! We’d definitely like to send you a congratulatory poke soon—- this time, live and in-person.

Get to Know Pinterest: Here Are 10 Fashion Pinners You Should Be Following Right Now

If you haven’t hopped on the Pinterest bandwagon yet, you should get on it, pronto. Founded in March 2010, image-based social networking site Pinterest made waves in the start-up world, garnering over 11 million total weekly views in December 2011 — a 4000% increase over six months.

The site allows users to follow other pinners and re-pin (re-post in Pinterest terminology), “like,” and comment on content that others have posted or pinned. Pinners create boards that fall under categories like Art, DIY & Crafts, Home Decor and Women’s Apparel, modeled after thematic mood boards used by magazines and fashion designers for inspirational and organizational purposes. Users can follow all boards created by a user or select individual boards to follow, filtering out pins that aren’t relevant or don’t interest them.

Lucky Shops Is Happening This Weekend: The Bargains You Can Score, What the Celebs Bought and Styling Advice From Mary Alice Stephenson

Last night’s Lucky Shops VIP shopping night was a bit of stylish mayhem in the middle of Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. I estimate there were at least a zillion people in attendance, all carrying reusable Lucky shoppers loaded with discounted designer duds and nibbling away at the most adorable miniature hors d’oeuvres I’ve ever seen. A decent smattering of celebs mingled amongst the crowd as well, also scouring the racks for deals and trying on sparkly costume jewelry.

There were two whole floors of excellent bargains, with most stalls offering 30 – 50% off of retail prices, and some even more.

Mad Men‘s Kiernan Shipka is the Newest Precocious Tween Actress-Turned-Style Blogger

Well, I guess it was only a matter of time before Kiernan Shipka, better known as Mad Men‘s Sally Draper, entered the fashion blogosphere. The 11-year-old actress has great red carpet style and even designs her own dresses. Now she’s blogging her outfits a la Vogue.com’s five days five looks for Lucky, except we’re treated to eight whole days of outfits from Shipka. She wears Stella McCartney kids, Paul & Joe and Marc Jacobs to name a few designers, and takes outfit inspiration from, you guessed it, Tavi.

Take a look at our favorite outfits from the child star and click over to Lucky to see the rest. Is she the next Elle Fanning/Hailee Steinfeld/Chloe Moretz?
