5 Fashion Jobs That Didn’t Exist 5 Years Ago: We have technology to thank for the changing landscape of the job market, especially in the fashion world. Your dream job might not even exist yet! Here are 5 careers in the fashion industry that were unheard of 5 years ago.

Margiela x H&M: The collection hits stores November 15th and the buzz around it has already hit fever pitch. The celebrity-filled launch party in NYC was pretty epic and (no surprises here) as many as 100 pieces were being sold at crazy markups on eBay the next day.

Surprise Surprise, Maison Martin Margiela for H&M Is Marked Way Up on eBay Already

Our faith in humanity always takes a bit of a beating during designer collaboration launches–all that shoving and conniving and reselling. So it’s no surprise that over 100 pieces of Maison Martin Margiela for H&M are already on eBay–three weeks before it officially hits stores on November 15. (We saw this happen following the shopping launch parties for Jason Wu for Target as well as Versace for H&M.)

What that means is that more than a few of the lucky hundreds of fashion insiders who attended the Margiela for H&M launch party stocked up in hopes of cashing in on eBay.

Alexa Chung on Body Image, Why Fashion Doesn’t Like Anne Romney, and Margiela x H&M

Ann Romney Gets No Fashion Love: Outspoken Democrat Diane von Furstenberg admitted that she’s “not sure” how Anne Romney obtained one of her dresses to wear to a rally, and the fashion PR establishment has been pretty silent on the First Lady hopeful’s outfit choices. Why won’t the fashion industry embrace Anne Romney?

Erin Heatherton on Photoshop: Victoria’s Secret is no stranger to Photoshop scandals. Their very own angel Erin Heatherton let us know how she really feels about all the Photoshop fuss.

Finding Your Ideal Creative Director Is Tough, So We Offer Some Suggestions

Finding Your Ideal Creative Director Is Tough, So We Offer Some Suggestions

Finding a new creative director for a brand is a painstaking process. Not only do you want someone whose aesthetic lines up with the brand’s image, but there’s contracts, availability, and a ton of paperwork before a collection sets foot on the runway.

In this process, sometimes bad decisions are made. Like Alessandra Falchinetti at Gucci or Marco Zanini at Halston, short lived, unprofitable directorships are plenty in the fashion industry. Not every decision puts a Giles at Ungaro, nor is every rumor about a Pugh at Mugler.

Maison Martin Margiela 20: The Exhibition Opens at Somerset House

Six months after the announcement that “fashion’s invisible man” would be walking away from his eponymous label, Maison Martin Margiela 20: The Exhibition opens at Somerset House, home to London Fashion Week‘s catwalks.

The retrospective showcases 20 years of the label’s groundbreaking work and originates from the Mode Museum in Antwerp. Curator Kaat Debo worked in tandem with Maison Martin Margiela to illustrate for the public the basic principles behind the highly conceptual brand, whose ethos has been at odds with the mainstream, often alienating all but fashion’s illuminati.
