Last night, Barack Obama won re-election–and we won four more years of gushing and gawking over how adorable the Obama family is. As they laughed and hugged onstage, we couldn’t help but look back on the night four years ago when Obama was first elected–and Michelle, Malia and Sasha stole the hearts of fashion people everywhere.
We know it’s New York Fashion Week, but we’re starting to wonder where the fashion shows really were the past few days: here or in North Carolina?
The FLOTUS looked absolutely stunning once again last night on the last day of the Democratic National Convention. While her husband took the podium, she wore a well-tailored burgundy floral-printed dress by up-and-coming African-American designer Laura Smalls with an Alexis Bittar flower pin on her lapel.
Smalls is staging a small fashion week presentation on Tuesday and we bet her PR just got a lot more RSVPs.
The Obamas put on their Easter best and took a family stroll yesterday to attend services at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington DC. And they still win for happiest-looking (and best looking?) The Obamas make us smile. They just seem like such a tight-knit, happy (and gorgeous) family unit. The White House just released the first official presidential family portrait since 2009 and it just oozes festive love. Our family Christmas cards certainly didn’t look this good.
We unabashedly adore designer/Fashionista columnist Chris Benz, and we’re so excited to see that FLOTUS Michelle Obama wore the “Nelda” dress from his Resort 2011 collection. This is huge for Benz, not only because it’s the first time Obama has donned something from the label, but it’s also the outfit she chose for her appearance on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which will be viewed by millions of people. We hope he’s got extra fabric around, because those orders are sure to start flooding in!
