Marilyn Monroe Exhibit Draws Classy Fash Crowd: No angel-wing-and-thong ensembles here. A collection of rare photos of the ill-fated starlet titled Picturing Marilyn opened last night at Milk Gallery to a stylish group including Coco Rocha, Jessica Stam, and Georgina Chapman. Dree Hemingway had the honor of wearing a stunning Dior-created replica of the black dress worn my Ms. Monroe in her “Last Sitting” photographs. {WWD}

Armani Opens New Hotel, Wishes He Were an Architect: Giorgio Armani, who has just opened his newest luxury hotel in Milan and has plans for several others in Paris, New York, and London, says that he wishes he could “have a fresh start as an architect.” If only the 77-year-old had the eternal youth of fellow Italian Roberto Cavalli, he’d still have at least 43 years to make that dream a reality. {Telegraph}

The past four days have been a non-stop party for a lot of fashion people here in New York. And those Halloween parties have been well-documented. The Tribeca Grand’s Overlook Hotel party, the Boom Boom Room’s fete and last night’s V party hosted by Terry Richardson drew the most fashion-heavy crowds and, as we all know, fashion people like to dress up. They also seem to like obscure references–many of their costumes were tough to identify, but still fun to look at. So, from Alexa Chung to Joan Smalls to Marc Jacobs, here are a bunch of fashion people in their Halloween best!

Last season for Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs sent his models to the runway in caged elevators complete with uniformed operators to open the doors. Kate Moss closed the show while smoking a cigarette. You might have thought (like I thought), ‘Well, he’ll never top that.” But you’d be wrong.

For Louis Vuitton’s spring 2012 collection, amidst rumors that this will be his last collection for the house before he takes the reins at Dior, Jacobs set his show on a fully operating motherfecking CAROUSEL. The carousel was covered by a white curtain, so when the show started just before it’s scheduled start time at 10 a.m. (I ran from the Metro, thank goodness I made it) and the curtain dropped, so did everyone’s jaws and an audible gasp ran through throughout audience. One by one models hopped off their horses and walked the round runway. Kate Moss, once again, closed the show, looking ethereal in a white sequined feathered broderie anglaise dress (we doubt she’ll get any flack from the Daily Mail for looking less than perfect this go round).

As for the clothes, these tooth-achingly sweet cotton candy colored confections were a complete 180 from last season’s dark fetish collection. Always keeping us on our toes, that Marc.

Even in the midst of the small dramas happening at New York fashion week, the big story is still: Who’s replacing John Galliano at Dior? Although neither Marc Jacobs nor LVMH are talking, it’s been widely reported that they’re in negotiations for Jacobs to take the reins at Dior. And according to WWD, those talks just got a bit complicated.

Because of the increased responsibility that comes with the creative director position at Dior–namely two couture shows in addition to regular and pre-season collections–Jacobs and partner Robert Duffy are reportedly asking for a package that will put their salary in the “low eight digits.” That’s over $10 million, people.

The financial world is concerned about who the new Dior creative director will be, but maybe not as concerned as those in fashion.

“High-ranking industry sources” have confirmed to The Daily that Marc Jacobs will replace John Galliano as creative director at Christian Dior.

A Marc Jacobs spokesperson could not be reached for comment as Marc Jacobs and Robert Duffy are both out of the office (The Daily speculates the two may be in Paris, negotiating the deal with Dior). However a Dior spokesperson was reached and they said, “I have no comment,” which we all know is code for “probs.”

Kate Moss continues to make us jealous with her storybook-perfect wedding. In the video above hear everyone from Marc Jacobs to Mario Testino wax poetic about Kate’s big day–and why the model continues to fascinate the fashion world. Hint: For Testino, it’s a cologne-versus-perfume thing.

The wedding sounds like it was even more fun and amazing than all the photos make it seem–Jacobs says it felt like a “beautiful, spontaneous moment,” while Candy Pratts Price reveals that “[Kate] actually looked back at all of us when she had to say ‘I do,’ which we all thought was hilarious.” Aw. Stylist Camilla Nickerson even says, “It was one of the best nights of my life.”

This looks like the most fun wedding reception ever. It probably was. Unofficial Mosstock photog Terry Richardson has been posting pics from last weekend’s Kate Moss/Jamie Hince festivities on his blog all morning. They are so casual and unprofessional-looking, like he’s just some dude uploading pics from someone’s wedding onto Facebook except the bride is a supermodel all the guests are beautiful and famous.

Unless you decided to spend your long weekend under a rock, you probably know that Kate Moss married her longtime rocker boyfriend Jamie Hince in a private (at least more private than that other wedding), ceremony at her house in the Costwolds on Friday. Luckily, the matter of her dress was settled immediately after the ceremony with the release of these photos of her in Galliano (and the groom in YSL). And the designer did in fact attend the wedding, according to British Vogue. While the dress has gotten mixed reviews, British Vogue‘s Harriet Quick was a fan, writing: “It was a superb dress and pure Galliano–bias-cut, nostalgic and wonderful–a tribute to him. Moss returns to that waif we all fell in love with.”

Kate’s maids of honor reportedly wore Stella McCartney and Erdem, while her younger bridesmaids wore frocks made by French children’s clothing brand Bonpoint. McCartney also designed three post-wedding outfits–a first dance dress, an after-party dress and a white three-piece going away suit, which you can see below as she makes her way to the helicopter waiting to take her and Jamie to their honeymoon. According to the Mirror, one of the stops on said honeymoon will be Timbuktu, which Kate reportedly didn’t know was a real place.

Click through for photos of Kate and Jamie at the alter, the wedding cake, Anna Wintour in an amazing Prada dress talking to Marc Jacobs and Kate leaving in her Stella suit, plus some pictures of Kate and Jamie in a hotel bed that recently went up on Terry’s Diary. Yesterday, Self Service, the hit French fashion magazine with an insider tilt, relaunched its website with full archives. The goal was to create a database of everyone that’s ever been in Self Service. It’s like an online encyclopedia filled with people who are really, really important in the fashion industry. (Seriously, there’s an index.)

Now you know I love a good online archive, so I spent yesterday afternoon scouring Self Service‘s to bring you the most iconic, weirdest, and captivating photos from the book’s 16 year history. While my computer’s hard drive is now 25% covered in images of Hannelore Knuts, I’ve managed to pull out 20 photos that are particularly noteworthy.

But don’t rely on me entirely. After checking out my edit, go to Self Service’s new site and find out for yourself.

It’s Easter this weekend, and that means miracles (if you believe in that sort of thing), chocolate, and lots and lots of pastels. In an ode to spring and Easter, we present the season’s best Easter egg makeup. (If pastels make you queasy or want to hit someone, you may want to skip this one.) A word of caution? Use one at a time and use them sparingly.

The fashion industry has a love/hate relationship with celebrities. Paris Vogue is just one of the European glossies notorious for choosing models over celebs for their covers. Last year, Marc Jacobs banned them from his front row because he thinks they distract people from paying attention to the show.

Kanye West definitely experienced this relationship during Paris Fashion Week this season. The rapper and fashion enthusiast managed to score invites to shows like Valentino and Givenchy, but not everyone in Paris was so welcoming.
