It’s not such a stretch to imagine some fashion people as cartoon characters, is it? Here are the Disney versions of all your favorites in the industry, straight from the Barneys/Disney holiday collab.
Rag & Bone is proving you actually CAN go back home, and is opening its first London store location. David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, both Londoners by birth, will open the doors on their new location in Chelsea this Thursday, WWD is reporting. In another first for the brand, R&B shot its first-ever print campaign, Read more →
Carrying on the tradition of celebs baring their (pregnant) bellies on magazine covers, a prego Julia Restoin Roitfeld covers i-D clad in lacy lingerie and a sheer cape. Though we’re just going to go ahead and say this is probably the most stylish iteration of the trend. I mean she’s wearing Alexander McQueen (the cape) Read more →
Carine Roitfeld is giving Karl Lagerfeld a run for his money lately in terms of picking up extracurricular projects. After various styling gigs and prepping her new fashion glossy, CR Fashion Book, for a September release, WWD reports today that the former Vogue Paris editrix is the latest to snag a MAC cosmetics collection. The 2012 Pirelli calendar debuted this week, and it’s been getting a lot of attention, to say the least (and I am convinced it’s entirely because of Lara Stone). Mario Sorrenti said he didn’t want the calendar to be too sexy, but it’s like the sexiest thing ever. Yes, the end result is a bunch Read more →
The Pirelli calendar–otherwise known as the classiest pin-up girly calendar ever–is an annual tradition for those lucky few VIPs who find it in their mailboxes. It’s traditionally shot by world-renowned fashion photographers (Karl Lagerfeld last year, Mario Testino, Annie Leibovitz, Bruce Weber, Terry Richardson…the list goes on and on) and features A-list models and actresses. This morning we attended a press conference to preview the 2012 Pirelli calendar, and it left us feeling very warm and um, tingly.
First of all, the calendar was shot in Corsica by Mario Sorrenti, who was in attendance and who is exceptionally easy on the eyes (he’s a former model). Second of all, every single model in the calendar is as naked as the day she was born, and we were treated to a 20-minute long behind-the-scenes video documenting the shoots of all 12 models. Suffice it to say there was a lot of glistening flesh (in almost every scene an assistant is seen spritzing down the models), and a lot of come-hither looks. Here are the ladies who the lucky recipients will get to ogle in 2012: Isabeli Fontana, Natasha Poly, Saskia de Brauw, Lara Stone, Joan Smalls, Guinevere Van Seenus, Malgosia, Edita Vilkevicute, Kate Moss, Milla Jovovich, Margareth Made, and Rinko Kikuchi.
Last night Lady Gaga was on hand in NYC to cut the ribbon of her highly anticipated Gaga’s Workshop at Barneys. Sadly, we missed Gaga’s giant-scissors-wielding entrance, but she clearly owned that custom-designed-by-Karl-Lagerfeld Chanel hoop-skirted ball gown. After a quick sweep through the crowd (and a kiss for a lucky Bryanboy, who was wearing an Read more →
As we reported last week, sisters of the moment Elle and Dakota Fanning are W‘s December cover girls. Along with a less blurry image of the gorgeous, ethereal cover, we now have the full spread styled by Lori Goldstein and shot by Mario Sorrenti. There’s also a lovely interview by Lynn Hirschberg–two separate ones in fact–in which the girls dish about borrowing each other’s clothes, working at such a young age and how fashion-obsessed Elle reacted to being invited to the Chanel couture show.
Click through for the best bits from the interview and to see the “fabulous Fannings” wearing Chanel couture and looking super pretty in the editorial.
Carine’s World Part 1 from Barneys The Window on Vimeo. If you didn’t already worship Carine Roitfeld and covet her well-heeled life, well, you’re about to. If you were already obsessed, we’re sorry: It’s just going to get worse. Shot by Roitfeld‘s pal Mario Sorrenti for Barneys’ “Carine’s World” campaign, this two-part video shows an Read more →
Italian Vanity Fair has published the first photos from the 2012 Pirelli Calendar. The calendar was shot in beautiful Corisca, Italy by Mario Sorrenti (the first Italian to shoot the calendar, Vanity Fair points out). Unlike last year’s Karl Lagerfeld-lensed calendar, which took place in a Paris studio, this one takes place outdoors and has a more natural feel.
The shoot took place over a week in May, making it one of Kate Moss’ last photo shoots as a single lady. The calendar’s other stars include Lara Stone, Saskia de Brauw, Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi, Milla Jovovich and Isabeli Fontana.
It will officially be released in New York on December 6. For now, click through for all the behind-the-scenes shots.
Well here you go: Barneys‘ full fall campaign starring Carine Roitfeld has been released on WWD. And we didn’t even have to wait a whole day to see it! Carine isn’t the only Roitfeld in the campaign. Her progeny Vladmir and Julia also share the spotlight, along with model Natasha Poly.
Of course, the whole clan looks gorgeous and very Carine-ified, decked out in nearly all black Rick Owens, Givenchy and The Row and shot by Mario Sorrenti. Nice work, Miss Roitfeld!
