How to Avoid a Fashion Week Meltdown

We’re approaching the home stretch of New York Fashion Week, which means many of our attitudes have shifted from excited and energetic to when-will-this-be-over? So, we asked some of fashion’s busiest bees to tell us what they do to stay sane (and no we don’t mean pharmaceuticals–though those certainly aren’t off-limits). From Jenna Lyons’ many coats, to BryanBoy’s cathartic Instagramming, click through for their (and our) tips and tricks!

Attend New York Fashion Week From Your Couch: A Complete List of Shows Livestreaming This Week

New York is unreasonably cold right now. Like impending-blizzard-freeze-your-Rag & Bone-covered-butt-off cold. This is exactly why we, and fashionistas nowhere near New York, are praising the fashion gods (more like IMG & various PR people) for the glorious amount of New York fashion week shows livestreaming this week. We wrangled 89 shows (89!) and presentations to tune into over the course of the next week…with even more coming in! The best part? You won’t be judged for taking in these shows in your pjs over some popcorn or pizza or half a bottle of wine…

See any shows we missed? Let us know!

J.Crew Women’s Fall 2011: Glamorous Prep

J.Crew Women’s Fall 2011: Glamorous Prep

For fall, Jenna Lyons, Marissa Webb, and the rest of the J.Crew women’s collection team chose a decidedly preppy look. “Of course they did!” you might say. But it was prep in the way we like to think of it: buttoned up with a bit of quirk and glamor for good measure. There were geeky platform loafers in lavender satin, sky blue cropped trousers, and a fit and flare trench that is sure to become a wardrobe staple for many.

Gone were the relaxed military inspirations of recent collections. This was more about refinement. And adventurous color; along with the lavenders and sky blues, we saw melon, lipstick red, and crayon yellow. But really, out of everything, we can’t stop thinking about that fit and flare trench.

J.Crew Women’s Spring 2011: The Complete Collection

J.Crew Women’s Spring 2011: The Complete Collection

J.Crew rarely fails to delight us, and their women’s collection for Spring 2011 is no different.

Creative director/president Jenna Lyons and women’s lead designer Marissa Webb imagined a look that was decidedly spring–lots of short suits, nautical sweaters, and chambray–but also decidedly cool. There was much more of a tomboy feel to this collection than I’m used to from J.Crew, and that’s a good thing. And it seems that they also used Nars Heat Wave lipstick on the models–one of my favorites. J’adore.
