Fashion News Roundup: Karl’s Crazy Fashion Island, ADR’s Rules to Wearing Fruit on Your Head and Fashion’s Night In

A Women’s Right To Headpieces: This fantastic blog post by Vogue Nippon editor Anna Dello Russo includes a photo montage of the fruit-inspired headwear she’s been sporting lately, the frenzy around which has inspired her to explain her 10 RULES to wearing headpieces. Our favorite pieces of advice: “4. Try the LOOK! At the end you have to look pretty in your face.

” and “9. Don’t take off the hat when you get inside,
it’s part of your LOOK!

” {ADR}

Matthew Williamson Diffuses: Diffusion lines are all the rage these days and now British designer Matthew Williamson is no exception. The collection, which will sit next to the likes of Marc by Marc and See by Chloe, is set to debut next Februrary. “It will carry all the essence of the Williamson woman but it’ll be for her younger sister and at a lower price point,” said Williamson. Sounds good to us. {Vogue UK}

Fashion Island: It looks like Karl Lagerfeld and his fabulous friends will have somewhere other than Saint-Tropez to take fabulous breaks from their fabulous lives. Check out Isla Moda (yes that’s really what it’s called), a man-made fashion-centric island off the coast of Dubai that Karl himself is helping design. There are now renderings of the island and s*** looks crazy. {NY Mag}

Teenage Dream: Katy Perry will be performing live at this year’s Victoria’s Secret Angels fashion show. The show, which airs November 30 at 10pm on CBS, will be a whole to do including a red carpet, model profiles and behind-the-scenes exclusives. There will also of course be a $2 million bra worn by Adriana Lima. We hope the show also includes those Victoria’s Secret “halloween” costumes and that Katy Perry wears something ridiculous. {Victoria’s Secret}

Fashion News Roundup: Fashion’s Most Eligible, Armani for Gaga, and the Bra That Won A Nobel Prize

The Emergency Bra: No, the bra does not defy gravity or work as a flotation device. This bra can actually, apparently, save your life by turning into a pair of protective face masks. If you’re completely paranoid about terrorist attacks and the like and carrying around a face mask is just too much of a hassle, why not wear two of them on your boobs? Every day? The bras only come in B and C cups, so, if you’re smaller than a B or larger than a C, which many people are, you are going to die. {Tonic.com}

Bad Romance: Check out this roundup of “fashion’s most eligible bachelors.” That’s right, 25 available men who work in fashion, many of whom are actually straight. Take your pick! But be careful girls–some of these guys are likely bachelors for a reason. Just sayin’. {Refinery 29}

Matthew Williamson X Bulgari: Matthew Willamson’s new line of handbags for Bulgari is super pretty but won’t come cheap. “Obviously the Bulgari customer, who is a woman who appreciates great quality, glamour and luxury,” says Matthew. {InStyle UK}

Hip Hop Chambray…Ho…11 Chambray Looks for Summer

For some reason whenever we think of chambray that Naughty By Nature song gets stuck in our head.

No matter.

The point is that chambray is big this summer and we’re happy about it. The chambray work shirt is classic 1930s Americana. It’s sexy and rugged and a staple for the season. And while there’s no messing with a basic like the two-pocket button down, we’re happy to see this lightweight cotton or linen fabric cropping up in different styles.

Click through for the best in chambray (and lightweight denim) for summer.

People Are Talking

10 Questions for Project Runway

While I was a little disappointed by the lack of input from guest judge Matthew Williamson, this episode did offer a captivating array of both really good designs and really, really bad designs. And Anthony’s personality is hilarious enough to shake up any monotony. 1. We’re at the Met! What an incredible smattering of dresses. Read more →
