Right on cue, pregnant Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio is the latest celeb to do a riff on Demi Moore’s 1991 Vanity Fair cover by posing sans clothing, cradling her prominent belly for a famous fashion photography duo. She’s already walked the runway, posed (clothed) for a Spanish magazine and Twitpic’d pregnant, so this was Read more →
Dont judge a book by its cover… Unless it’s a magazine, in which case, sometimes the cover is the deciding factor of whether or not to buy the mag altogether.
The best covers of 2011 returned to a new naturalism and a fun aesthetic, like the Lara Stone T cover we’re still drooling over, pictured at left. Sure, there’s still room for artifice in fashion (see: Stella Tennant on Vogue Italia), but 2011 was a year for reflecting on natural beauties, incredible models, and stellar photography.
After toiling over hundred of covers, we’re bringing you “The Best” according to us. Did we forget your favorite? Let us know in the comments.
So, in case you haven’t noticed, we’ve been gushing over just about every thing to come out of LOVE issue six, including this amazing Mert and Marcus-lensed editorial, titled “What Lies Beneath.” The images of sparingly clothed models splayed about in a dark forest and creepy lake are haunting and romantic. The LOVE buzz just won’t stop! Elle Fanning and Chloe Moretz’s covers debuted on models.com this week, which has only fueled the LOVE speculation: who else would cover the beloved fashion book? While we guessed that Hailee Steinfeld would be next (Elle+Chloe+Hailee is kind of a thing), we were certain we’d have to wait until Friday to find out.
But no! Fashion’s favorite man about town Derek Blasberg convinced Katie Grand to spill the beans last night at dinner. Lucky for us, Derek couldn’t keep the news to himself, so he Tweeted it around 9pm last night. Thanks D!
According to Derek’s Tweets the models for the other five unreleased LOVE covers are:
This is too good. On Monday, we showed you Elle Fanning’s amazing LOVE cover–one of three that Models.com plans to release before issue six hits newsstands next week, all of which were shot by Mert and Marcus. Cover #2 just went up and it’s another one of our other stylish young actress obsessions, Chloe Moretz!
Stella McCartney re-launched her e-commerce site, adding 28 European countries in the process. Lots of new goodies can be found there, from photos of Linda McCartney which are appearing in a new Taschen book, to behind-the-scenes images of the designer’s work with the British Olympic team. A new second edition of her iPad app is available now, too, and you can check out a “making of” video of the dresses Stella did for the Met Gala.
The designer also revealed the ad campaign for fall/winter on the new site, which features Natalia Vodianova, a regular Stella McCartney muse. The ads were shot by Mert and Marcus at a private home in Oxfordshire, England, and feature some eerie topiaries and a black-and-white Natalia looking as ethereal, haunted, and fragile as ever.
Another one of our faves, Proenza Schouler, also just released their fall campaign, which can be found in September issues of all the “cool” magazines like Interview, LOVE, Purple and The Journal.
