Attend New York Fashion Week From Your Couch: A Complete List of Shows Livestreaming This Week

New York is unreasonably cold right now. Like impending-blizzard-freeze-your-Rag & Bone-covered-butt-off cold. This is exactly why we, and fashionistas nowhere near New York, are praising the fashion gods (more like IMG & various PR people) for the glorious amount of New York fashion week shows livestreaming this week. We wrangled 89 shows (89!) and presentations to tune into over the course of the next week…with even more coming in! The best part? You won’t be judged for taking in these shows in your pjs over some popcorn or pizza or half a bottle of wine…

See any shows we missed? Let us know!

Little Orphan Annie Turns Runway Model for Milly Minis

It looks like three’s a trend with high end labels staging fashion shows for their childrenswear lines. Fendi did it, followed by Oscar de la Renta, and last night at its Upper East Side boutique, Milly unleashed even more adorable pint-sized models into the fashion world.

Designer Michelle Smith’s first ever show for her year-old Milly Minis line was a collaboration with the cast of Broadway musical Annie, whose cast members walked the pseudo-runway (along with Smith’s adorable daughter Sophia).

Cute Overload: Milly Designer Michelle Smith Interviews Her Five-Year-Old Daughter Sophia Before They Take the Runway Together

One of our favorite parts of Milly designer Michelle Smith’s shows, besides the clothes of course, is when her adorable five-year-old daughter, Sophia Oshrin, joins her on the runway for the finale. It happened last season and melted our jaded fashion hearts. This past year, Sophia became an even bigger presence in her mom’s fashion biz as she’s the fit model for Milly’s year-old insanely cute children’s line.

In anticipation of Sophia’s scene stealing runway appearance at today’s Milly show, we asked Smith to interview her daughter about helping her mom prep for the show, her runway walk, and her design skills. Brace yourself, it’s the cutest thing ever.

Last Night’s Party: Milly Turns 10 and Gets a New Home on the Upper East Side

Michelle Smith was all smiles with her husband/Milly CEO Andrew Oshrin Thursday night as they celebrated the opening of the first U.S. Milly boutique on 73rd and Madison. As Milly fans packed in for glasses of champagne and bites of shrimp and chorizo, the couple behind the label looked completely at ease in their surroundings. That’s no surprise, since they say the outpost feels like a home away from home. “We live two blocks away,” explained Oshrin, “and my job for the past two months was to be here at eight or nine every morning and make sure the construction moved on time,” he added. While the shop is conveniently close to the couple’s home, they’re confident it’s also a prime location for the Milly consumer. “Even though we feel it’s sort of a destination store because it’s above 72nd street, we think it really reflects who the core Milly customer is,” he said.

Now that construction is finished, Smith and her husband were happy to show off the finished product as they welcomed party goers into the store. The designer wanted to evoke the feeling of her family’s apartment and picked out everything from the matte dove-grey paint, to the Lucite and polished brass fixtures, to the vintage Milo Baughman chairs. “These chairs were originally chrome. I redid them in bronze and reupholstered them in the signature Milly pink,” she said while pointing out the cheerful pop of color. The interior also boasts hints of French neoclassical architecture, a nod to her training in Paris. Smith notes her experience in couture at Hermes, Louis Vuitton, and Dior continues to influence the quality of her own label, as well as the boutique’s aesthetic.

Milly Fall 2011: Ladies in Red
Reviews

Milly Fall 2011: Ladies in Red

Designer Michelle Smith’s Milly runway was framed by an image of wintry, snow-topped trees–a perfectly minimalist backdrop against which the bright reds, tangerines, and emeralds she sent out could truly pop. This season’s Milly girl is all about jewel tones, shimmering jacquards, and–you guessed it–the 1970s Love Story look (sensing a theme yet?).

Apparently the color palette was inspired by the bold hues of Guy Bourdin‘s artwork, a reference we saw materialize particularly during the middle of the lineup, when cheerful sherbet tones took over. There were several pieces in a neat mohair plaid awash with bubblegum pink and Granny Smith green, as well as a standout fur-lined duffle coat worn over a lovely poppy-print number. And a shaggy Mongolian-lamb vest paired with a fluttering frock in a metallic brushstroke pattern seemed a perfect choice for breezy between-seasons weather.
