Best Dressed: Paris Fashion Week

Friday, Oct 8, 2010 / 5:30 PM

It was tough to pick just five girls from Paris Fashion Week’s abundance of sartorial greatness, but we did our best. We have a hard time ever excluding Alexa Chung, who looked adorable at Miu Miu. Lou Doillon is a Paris fashion icon in her own right and did not disappoint at Chanel. Rachel Bilson looked lovely at Dior. Anja Rubik rocked long, flowy Chloé and Caroline Sieber got a head start on Spring’s white trend at Valentino.

Step aside Kate Moss and move over Gwyneth, there’s a new cover star and it’s this appliqued Miu Miu dress.

Last week, the Guardian noticed that variations of the same Miu Miu dress was on the August covers of W, British Vogue and British Elle. A Miu Miu hat trick if you will. But the dress is also on the cover of Swedish Elle’s August issue, a reader pointed out.

This past weekend, we decided to escape the city and venture out to the Hamptons to celebrate the 4th with Kanon Organic Vodka and NYC hangout The Smile. We figured the combination of unbearable heat, a swimming pool, a color-themed holiday and fashion people would bring about some noteworthy style and we were right. After a couple of Kanon’s “Red, White and Blueberry,” cocktails (yes, they actually were really good) we decided to start documenting.

The event had a decidedly laid-back vibe; many partygoers like Harley Viera-Newton left the red and blue at home and opted for chic white ensembles. Maybe they were going to some kind of P. Diddy White Party after? Does that still happen? Click through for this party’s best dressed.

We love Miu Miu‘s fall ad campaign almost as much as we love the collection itself. Particularly because it stars fresh faces Lindsey Wixson, Siri Tollerød, Ginta Lapina, and Daphne Groeneveld. Now the girls have brought the clothes to life in this exclusive video. Enjoy!

This week, the beautiful Julianne Moore wore a gorgeous Erdem gown while Camilla Belle kept it short and sweet in Dior. Kirsten Dunst took a casual stroll through SoHo in an awesome Miu Miu dress while another blond rocked the red carpet in blue Rodarte. Freida Pinto can’t not look gorgeous, but this Oscar de la Renta number certainly doesn’t hurt.

An astute reader sent us a tip yesterday that really caught our attention.

Spring 2010 sparked a bit of Miu Miu mania, so it’s not surprising that many people have ripped off Ms. Prada’s fanciful collection.

However, back in the fall of 2008, Roberto Cavalli used a similar quirky print motif throughout his Just Cavalli show.

I can’t tell you exactly how my obsession with shoes began (I SWEAR it has nothing to do with Sex and the City), but I can tell you the first time a pair really blew my mind.

A couple of years back, a friend of mine wore these Burberry studded platform sandals from the Fall 2007 runway. They were sexy, slightly tough, and managed to make even the simplest outfit chic. Even if I could have afforded to buy these beauties, they were completely sold out–probably due to the fact that editors and celebrities everywhere were spotted in them.

While I’ve never splurged on a pair of designer shoes, I’ve made a little promise to myself: When I land my first full-time job, I will treat myself to one…even if it takes a few months of saving. Although that day hasn’t arrived, I’ve compiled a list of shoes that I think are worth the extreme price-tags. The picks might not all be classics, but they’re so special that you’ll surely wear them again and again.

PS: I still scour eBay every once in a while hoping to come across my Burberry dream shoes in a size 37.

Today in AIC, we have usual suspects Miu Miu and Steve Madden. Lately everyone’s been stealing ideas from Ms. Prada, so we’re not surprised that the King of Creative Theft, Steve Madden, jumped on the bandwagon as well.

The items in question are Miu Miu’s wooden platform slingback sandals and Steve Madden’s Melrow platform.
