When it comes to accessorizing an editorial, magazine editors know that there’s one thing that will never fail to instantly jazz up a shoot: Babies! You need only to look at Vogue Spain’s December cover, shot by Bruce Weber and starring a chubby baby’s behind (and we think that Dree Hemingway is in it as well? We weren’t paying attention…) to know what we mean.

Whether it’s baby carriages, baby bottles, or bare baby bums, there’s something about infants that is just so…chic, no? Take a look at the many fashion editorials featuring babies and get inspired to rock your baby (or niece or nephew) next time you really want to make an impression.

There’s only one question that remains: Just where, oh where, are magazines finding all these babies!?

Most people are content to go to Fashion Week and merely see the clothes. Not so these fashion A-listers. From Anna Dello Russo’s crazy swan hat to Anna Wintour’s pretty Prada skirt, this week saw models, editors and a socialite or two wearing Spring 2012 looks that had walked the runway mere days (or hours) beforehand.

It’s true critical reviews can make or break a collection–but so can one well-placed garment on an It Girl or fashion industry superstar. So it’s worth noting that Anna Wintour wore a Prada skirt (and that the Spring 2012 collection will no doubt be popping up sometime soon in Vogue)–or that despite getting generally slammed by critics, Dw by Kanye West seems to already have a few big-name fashion fans. Another name to jot down: Anthony Vaccarello, whose designs were favored by many an It girl and model. Vaccarello also won the ANDAM Fashion Award in July–but these recent endorsements have no doubt solidified him as a rising star in the industry.

Check out our favorite straight-off-the-runway looks as seen on many fashion notables. While the ladies certainly all look good, we shudder to think what this means for the already crazy pace of fashion design and production.

Stella McCartney re-launched her e-commerce site, adding 28 European countries in the process. Lots of new goodies can be found there, from photos of Linda McCartney which are appearing in a new Taschen book, to behind-the-scenes images of the designer’s work with the British Olympic team. A new second edition of her iPad app is available now, too, and you can check out a “making of” video of the dresses Stella did for the Met Gala.

The designer also revealed the ad campaign for fall/winter on the new site, which features Natalia Vodianova, a regular Stella McCartney muse. The ads were shot by Mert and Marcus at a private home in Oxfordshire, England, and feature some eerie topiaries and a black-and-white Natalia looking as ethereal, haunted, and fragile as ever.

Another one of our faves, Proenza Schouler, also just released their fall campaign, which can be found in September issues of all the “cool” magazines like Interview, LOVE, Purple and The Journal. Read more »

It would be nice to say that models outshine us mere mortals due to retouching and professionally done makeup and hair, but sometimes they really are just…beautiful. Photographer Scott Trindle shot a handful of supermodels in the raw for an exhibition for the launch of London’s new Viva Modeling Agency and it must be said: the black and white images are stunning.

“It doesn’t scare me that the images aren’t retouched, it adds another layer of interest and intrigue,” Trindle said in an interview with Vogue UK. “So much can be adapted in post, and so I suppose the main benefit is its purity.”

Trindle snapped the models–who include Raquel Zimmermann, Imogen Newton, Edie Campbell and Natalia Vodianova–over the course of a year and eschewed big studio lighting for the soft interior of his Dalston flat. The images are quietly revealing, giving the viewer a sense of the real girl underneath the supermodel name. The simple, open-faced beauty is something rarely seen in this industry, and comes as a refreshing dose of what makes a model such an icon in the first place.
