Raf Simons’s first collection for Dior has made its second debut on the red carpet–this time on the back of English beauty Rachel Weisz.
Raf Simons’s first collection for Dior has made its second debut on the red carpet–this time on the back of English beauty Rachel Weisz.
Recently, we’ve been hearing a number of powerful people expressing a similar sentiment–one that maybe shouldn’t even need to be said–about women and our ability to be simultaneously smart and stylish or interested in fashion. If there’s one thing I’ve learned while working and meeting people in the fashion industry, it’s that the two are Read more →
The 65th Annual Cannes International Film Festival kicks off tomorrow, and of course we’re super excited to see what everyone will wear.
Not only does the festival offer a perfect blend of Hollywood glamour and French insouciance, but whether it’s the heat or the proximity to nude beaches, people tend to get pretty daring with their fashion choices. And it’s made for some pretty iconic red carpet moments over the years.
Best Dressed gets bigger this week! Click through to see the ten best dressed celebs of the week. We left out the sartorial amazingness that was the met ball, since we already covered that pretty extensively. Still, from Chloe Moretz to Alexa Chung to Kate Middleton, the celebs kept up the momentum throughout the rest Read more →
At the New York City Ballet’s spring gala last night (read about my misadventures here), the renowned company performed two world premieres–one choreographed by the company’s director Peter Martins and one choreographed by former principal dancer with the company Benjamin Millepied, whom you know better as Natalie Portman‘s baby daddy/fiance–as well as the Balanchine classic Read more →
Remember YM’s awesome “Say Anything” column? Where readers wrote in their with most embarrassing stories about getting their period unexpectedly or farting in front of a boy they liked and being MORTIFIED about it? Well I’d like to submit the following story that, no joke, happened to me last night:
Agyness Deyn’s Dream Role: Model Agyness Deyn shadowed an exotic dancer to learn the ins and outs of the business for her role in the upcoming film Pusher. Roles she’d like to play next? Jane Eyre or Joan of Arc. {Vogue UK}
“Goodsmellas” Are Dudes Who Love Scents: The male counterparts of “perfumistas,” “Goodsmellas” are a community of scent-loving men. They range from government workers to members of the NYPD, including one 9/11 responder who lost his sense of smell for two years before becoming a scent fanatic. Some Goodsmellas have as many as 420 separate niche scents. And they’re on YouTube. Smell on, ‘Smellas. {Racked NY}
Sidney Toledano Talks Raf Simons: Dior took its spring/summer 2012 couture show to Shanghai, where designer Bill Gaytten took his last bow for the house. Sidney Toledano, president and chief executive of Dior, seemed very pleased with new hire Raf Simons: “I always said that the right person would come along when all the stars aligned and that’s exactly what happened last week,” he said, before adding that Simons has already “begun to lay out his vision” for Dior. {Telegraph UK}
Madonna Makes Out with Herself in Her Fragrance Ad: Here’s the ad for Madonna’s Truth or Dare fragrance, featuring the creator (who has “always been obsessed with fragrance”) on the verge of making out with herself. There’s no doubt Madge looks fab here, but also at least 20 years younger than her actual age (53)– we dare you to find an un-retouched pixel. Truth or Dare is available April 1 at Macy’s. {US Weekly}
Adam Levine has Got the Scent Like Jagger: Following in the manly, fragrant footsteps of Bruce Willis comes another (albeit a little less macho) perfume from Maroon 5 and The Voice‘s Adam Levine. The scents for both men and women, named ’222′, will be out next year and will “reflect Levine’s personality and style.” Market research is a fascinating thing. {Refinery29}
Spanx Creator is a Young Billionairess: Forbes has named Spanx inventor Sara Blakely as the world’s youngest female self-made billionaire. Apparently, Blakely once dreamt of playing Goofy at Disney World but was a bit too short for the highly regarded role– Gawrsh, wonder who’s laughing now? {Jezebel}
It was a long evening of red carpet analysis last night, but some actresses made it worth the wait. From Gwyneth in that fall 2012 Tom Ford white cape ensemble to Jessica Chastain in regal McQueen, we’re happy some ladies took risks. While we had plenty of opinions about everyone on the runway, following along Read more →
Another Sunday, another red carpet event. Click through to see all the looks from tonight’s Screen Actor’s Guild awards. We’ll keep updating as pix come in. So far our faves are Emma Stone in McQueen, Zoe Saldana in just-off-the-runway Givenchy Couture, Daenerys Targaryen Emilia Clarke (wearing ? help us out!) in Chanel (thanks @VF Fashion), Michelle Williams in Valentino (flawless), and Rose Byrne in that Elie Saab jumpsuit. Who are your favorites from the night?
We’ll have our best dressed list up in the morning. Stay tuned.
Kate Young was recently named one of “Hollywood’s Most Powerful Stylists” by the Hollywood Reporter and after one look at her celebrity clientele, it’s easy to see why. She dresses Michelle Williams, Natalie Portman and Rachel Weisz, to name a few, all people on whom we’ve come to rely for spot-on perfect red carpet looks. This also means that, considering it’s awards season and two of her clients are very much a part of that, Kate is super busy. Still, she found time for another new project.
She’s the latest INC Editor at Large for Spring/Summer 2012 at Macy’s. She follows inaugural INC Editor at Large Anna Dello Russo and her duties are a bit vague, as those of an ‘Editor at Large’ tend to be. What we know for sure is that they include styling the new INC collection, which you can peruse below, and a hip party thrown in her honor, which took place yesterday evening at Le Bain. We stopped by to chat with the super stylist about that gig, plus the attention celebrity stylists have been getting lately, dressing Natalie and Michelle for the Oscars and other upcoming projects, like Natalie’s next Dior campaign (!).
The Golden Globes will air live Sunday evening, and, as always, we’re crossing our fingers for some memorable red carpet moments. So while Hollywood is busy putting the last finishing touches on their custom-made Oscar de la Rentas and Valentinos (even though they always claim they “just threw this on last minute,” don’t they?), we’ve put together a collection of some of the Golden Globes’ most memorable fashion moments in recent history. Because, in the end, it’s not really about what awards you’ve won – it’s what people are saying about your dress the next day.
Check out our list of the fifteen most eye-catching, overall memorable Golden Globes looks so far, and be sure to check back here on Monday for all our faves from Sunday’s telecast!
