Breaking: Nick Wooster Out at Neiman Marcus

Breaking: Nick Wooster Out at Neiman Marcus

Rumors have been flying on Twitter for the past few hours that Nickelson Wooster, the impossibly dapper mustachioed men’s fashion director at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman has been fired. Sad but true: A spokesperson from Neiman Marcus has just confirmed to Fashionista that Nick Wooster is no longer with the company.

Neiman Marcus will not comment on his departure and it is not their policy to release any official statement about his exit. So until we get a release from wherever he shows up next–we’ll just have to cross our fingers and hope he lands somewhere worthy of his style and talent. If only so that the tumblr devoted to him and his style–fuckeyeahnickwooster–has a reason to go on.

Ken Downing Talks Fall Trends, Tom Ford and Why Neiman Marcus is Still Carrying Dior

SAN DIEGO–Neiman Marcus fashion director Ken Downing recently stopped by the department store’s Fashion Valley location in San Diego to give a small crowd of loyal customers a tutorial on spring trends. (Hint: coral is the color of the season.)

But between summery looks from Dries Van Noten, Chanel, Gucci and more, he chatted with us about Tom Ford’s “spectacular” womenswear collection, sticking with Dior and why he may chase you down and steal your shoes.

Textbook for Fashionista: Nickelson Wooster of Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman!

Nickelson Wooster, men’s fashion director at Neiman Marcus, can be seen at most menswear shows you’d like to be at. As the voice behind the men of Neimans and Bergdorf Goodman, he’s earned his spot. However, if you aren’t a show-goer or skulking outside Simon Spurr, you may have seen him on every single menswear blog ever. Mr. Wooster has impeccable style and makes bold decisions when it comes to print, pattern and color and it’s these choices that make him all the more interesting. You have to admire a man who knows how to aggressively mix plaid. Good for him.

Boutiques.com is Up and Running, Featuring Stores Created By Susie Bubble, Olivia Palermo…No SJP Yet

Boutiques.com, Google’s new fashion venture, launched in beta today.

And it’s pretty much what was expected: A listing of several boutiques with pieces pulled from Like.com‘s vast retail network, which includes Topshop, Anthropologie, and Neiman Marcus.

Some boutiques were created by the blogger/designer/celebrity they represent. For instance, Nicole Richie, Susie Bubble, and Olivia Palermo have each designed their own boutiques. As have brands like DvF and Rag & Bone. Conversely, Carey Mulligan and the Olsen Twins seem to have nothing to do with the creation of their respective boutiques. And Sarah Jessica Parker, who was rumored to be building a boutique for the launch, is nowhere to be found.

People Spend More Money at Opening Ceremony Than Brooks Brothers

If you thought Opening Ceremony was keeping afloat by selling loads of those $30 tote bags, think again. On average, customers spend more at the global chainlet’s New York stores than they do at preppy staple Brooks Brothers.

That’s according to data released by Mint.com, a personal finance portal. The data they’ve collected is from credit card transactions put through by their members.

At Opening Ceremony in New York, the average spend is $243.75. At Brooks Brothers in New York, the average spend is $180.93.

What’s more, the average spend varies quite a lot when you look at the same store in different cities. For example, at Zara in New York, the average spend is $92.03. At Zara in Miami, it’s $68.05. Interesting. Here’s a list of stores all over the country and the amount of money shoppers spend, on average, when visiting them:

The Best of the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book, Including that $1.5 Million Chihuly Pool Sculpture Installation You Always Needed

Yes, it’s that time of year again. You can now officially start your holiday shopping. The somewhat anachronistic yet always entertaining Neiman Marcus Holiday Book, now in its 84th edition, was released yesterday.

As WWD noted today, for the second year in a row, almost half the items in the catalog are less than $250, with 63 ringing in at $100 or less. But don’t worry—the ridiculous, over-the-top fantasy items that we’ve come to expect every year are still there.

For starters, there is a $7,500 gourd ukulele made by Danny Ferrington, who crafts handmade instruments for the likes of Keith Richards, Elvis Costello, and, uh, Tony Blair. Or for a mere $125,000 you can snag an Avion tequila party. Celeb event planner Colin Cowie will style and plan the event and Todd English will cook for you and 75 of your friends. (No mention of whether they will also provide a home big enough to fit 75 people.)

Question for Neiman Marcus: Are these A+O Pants Supposed to Have a Hole In The Crotch?

Question for Neiman Marcus: Are these A+O Pants Supposed to Have a Hole In The Crotch?

A reader was bewildered by these Alice + Olivia Navajo Fringe Cardigan & Ponte-Leather Leggings on the Neiman Marcus site. We can understand why. There’s a hole in the crotch. Zoom in and it’s impossible to miss. It sort of looks like a pee hole.

We figure the pants are just torn and this is a fluke photo error, but the description does say that there is “distressed detail on inner leg.” You can wear them with your period panties and fart patches.
