If you, like us, and Derek Blasberg, have missed beloved catwalk queen Karlie Kloss this week, she’s finally made an appearance! We don’t think the below video, which was shot in early January, is directly linked to Kloss’ reason for skipping NYFW, but it sure is a nice treat at the end of an otherwise Read more →
While most of our attention was admittedly on last night’s resplendent CFDA Awards, we can’t forget about the fashion talent across the pond–some of which has just been selected by the British Fashion Council for NEWGEN, an important showcase for emerging British Designers that is underwritten by Topshop. The winning designers, who are chosen each year in the categories of menswear and womenswear, receive sponsorship for their next runway show at London Fashion Week. And the winners are…
Get it While You Can: Chloe Sevigny’s latest collection for Opening Ceremony is available to pre-order until December 20 on Opening Ceremony’s website. There are handbags, sunglasses, t-shirts, adorable dresses and many to die for shoes. One item we don’t quite understand, however, is a lookbook on sale for $65. If you want something from the collection, which you do, pre-ordering is probably your best bet for actually getting it, as these collections tend to sell out pretty quickly. {Opening Ceremony}
Jen Brill’s Makeup Routine: Photo/Styling agent Jen Brill is the latest to be featured on Emily Weiss’ beauty blog Into the Gloss. She divulges her simple yet well thought-out beauty routines in its entirety. We’ve definitely learned a few tricks. {Into the Gloss}
Hanneli’s Winter Picks: Street Style Blogger Hanneli Mustaparta has an amazing eye for others with great style as well as her own. Check out what she has her eye on this winter. Coming from someone who pretty much always looks perfect, we’d definitely take note. {The Moment}
Snooki’s Shilling Slippers: Remember those huge, dirty-looking slippers Snooki wore both in and outside the house throughout Jersey Shore? It was only a matter of time before Snooki endorsed her own line of slippers. They’re bizarrely huge, come in leopard and pink and have shoelaces for some reason. To be honest though, they do look kind of comfy. {Blackbook}
British Fashion Council‘s NEWGEN scholarship endows four emerging designers each season to put on a runway show. Spring/Summer 2011′s recipients were announced today, and included David Koma, Holly Fulton, Mary Katrantzou, Michael van der Ham and Peter Pilotto. Craig Lawrence and Louise Grey will each hold a presentation.
Along with £5,000 – £10,000 towards their show costs, the winners receive free exhibition space, usage of the BFC catwalk and mentoring.
That rumor we spread about Mark Fast doing a line for Topshop? It’s true. And it’s in last week’s Sunday Telegraph magazine which means it was true before we even said anything and we’ve had it in our lap since Friday and we should really work harder at finishing every article we start. The article Read more →

Good news for emerging designers in London (and their prospective customers everywhere): The British Fashion Council announced plans to start their own version of the CFDA in celebration of London Fashion Week’s 25th anniversary – and, presumably, to do something about the many young designers that show at the Natural History Museum then fall off Read more →
The lucky British few whose Fall collections will be financially supported are out: Louise Goldin, Danielle Scutt, Meadham Kirchhoff, House of Holland and Peter Pilotto, with Nasir Mazhar, maker of major headgear, winning events sponsorship. The recognition (and ¬£5,000 – ¬£10,000 for about three seasons straight) is a pretty big deal – previous winners who Read more →
