Nicole Kidman Bares Her Bum For V, Says She Became Sexual by Reading Books

Nicole Kidman Bares Her Bum For V, Says She Became Sexual by Reading Books

We would like to begin by bringing to your attention that Nicole Kidman is 45 years old. No, that’s not a typo: 4-5. Just let that sink in for a second.

Great. Now let’s start over.

Here is Nicole Kidman–nearly all of Nicole Kidman–gracing the giant fold-out cover of V Magazine‘s upcoming Travel Issue, on stands August 30. The ‘skirt’ (server belt? Low-slung cummerbund?) is apparently Chanel–though it’s unclear whether it’s intended for an adult or toddler–and really doesn’t leave much to the imagination. In the interview accompanying the decidedly 80s-inspired spread (shot by Mario Testino and styled by Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele), Kidman admits that she regrets not getting a little wild at times:

Who’s Covering What: All the September Issue Cover Stars Revealed

It’s that time of year again. Nope, we don’t mean Comic Con–we’re talking about September glossy cover reveals. September issues are traditionally the cash cows for any fashion mag, and whoever graces the cover can make or break that month’s sales. Today WWD revealed a slew of covers–and we’ve added some reveals of our own.

Overall it’s not a very surprising list.

The Top 10 Prada Red Carpet Looks from 1995 to Today

The Top 10 Prada Red Carpet Looks from 1995 to Today

With the Met exhibit just around the corner, we’re expecting to see a lot of celebrities in Prada. While it might be difficult to imagine some of those runway frocks on the red carpet (we don’t see dresses over pants as a go-to for celebrities), it doesn’t mean that the brand is without its fair share of red carpet moments through the years. Quite the opposite.

Prada is the seminal red carpet brand, in a way. The watershed moment in celebrity red carpet styling came in 1995 when Uma Thurman, styled by Barbara Tfank, wore a simple yet elegant lavendar gown to the Oscars (a.k.a. the dress that launched a thousand celebrity stylists’ careers). It was with this appearance that Prada became a household name overnight. The svelte actress was in a traceable gown from a brand to which people could aspire, instead of one provided by a film costumer or, heaven forbid, self-designed (we’re looking at you Demi Moore and Kim Basinger). It hit the high notes of 90s minimalism and became one of those capital “M” fashion Moments.

Click through to see the nine other most notable appearances by Prada on the red carpet.

Some salons are even offering “pejazzling services,” applying crystals in the shapes of stars and dolphins– Perfect for that upcoming Lisa Frank-themed adult film. {NY Times}

Which Celebrity Holds the Most International Cover Appeal?

Which Celebrity Holds the Most International Cover Appeal?

As WWD‘s recent report of the best-and-worst selling issues of 2011 proved, celebrity covers sell magazines plain and simple.

But while the report is a good indication of which celebrities we can expect to see more of on covers (Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Aniston), and which ones we probably won’t (Justin Bieber, Reese Witherspoon), it doesn’t necessarily paint the whole picture. Because while the glossies are printed in the United States, many have dozens of worldwide editions which frequently use reprints (both covers and content) from their North American counterpart. So are the best-selling US celebrities consistent with those who showed up most around the world?

The Kardashian appeal tends to dwindle when you take the overwhelming North American market out of the picture, so logic would indicate that cover giants Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker would pull out in front, right? Well, that’s not always the case.

We take a look at six big titles which have editions all around the world including Cosmopolitan, Elle, Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar, InStyle, and Marie Claire, and who showed up the most where. The results might surprise you.

Kate Middleton Wears Jenny Packham at a Polo Match and Formal Alexander McQueen in Hollywood

Kate Middleton Wears Jenny Packham at a Polo Match and Formal Alexander McQueen in Hollywood

The royal couple’s whirlwind weekend in California continued yesterday as Kate and William hit up a charity polo match (where tickets went for $4,000 and Giada De Laurentiis cooked the lunch.) She wore new fave designer Jenny Packham AGAIN–quite a lovely pale lilac dress with a floral print. Two elements of her outfit that sort of shocked us? We thought for sure she’d be sporting a hat for polo, but she let her wavy hair take center stage. And look at her feet: sandals! Yes, they’re nude, but they have a criss-cross strap and a respectable heel height. We’re calling this progress.

Runway Vs. the Celeb Way: A Look At How Celebrities Have Altered Runway Looks for the Red Carpet

It’s good to be a celebrity. One of the many perks that comes along with the job, if you’re a hot young A-lister, is the opportunity to wear just about any runway or couture look that you or your stylist likes. And when you’re celebrity of that caliber, the world’s top designers will do just about anything to dress you–including altering their runway creations to your liking. Recall, if you will, that episode of the Rachel Zoe Project when the stylist musters up the courage to ask the Kaiser himself to alter one of his couture creations for Cameron Diaz to make it appeal more to the American masses.

With Cannes, the Met Ball, and the Oscars in recent memory, we’ve compiled a slideshow of starlets who wore looks right off the runway, with some minor changes made. The question is, which do you like better: The original runway versions more or the alterations made to please the stars?

Click through and weigh in.
