Olivia Wilde on Her New Collaboration with Alternative Apparel and Wanting to Design Again

Last night Alternative Apparel and Olivia Wilde celebrated the launch of the Message Bag–the result of a collaboration between the two hosts and Wilde’s best friend Barbara ‘Babs’ Burchfield, which will benefit the Academy for Peace and Justice in Haiti. We happened to arrive at the event just as Wilde and co-designer Burchfield stepped out Read more →

Fashion News Roundup: Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2012 Campaign Is All About Family, Mulberry Names New CEO, and Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde New Revlon Campaigns Break

A Family that Vogues Together Stays Together: Dolce & Gabbana brings the family together in their Spring 2012 ad campaign starring a (fictional) fam, which includes Bianca Balti and Monica Bellucci and was shot by Giampaolo Sgura. {Fashion Copious}

Mulberry Taps New CEO: Mulberry named Hermes’ managing director, Bruno Guillon, as CEO this morning and as a result their shares rose 4.2 percent to 14.69 pounds, or $22.77 at current exchange, on the London Stock exchange. {WWD, subscription required}

A Peek Into The Bizarre World of Courtney Love: The singer gives good friend and Hole drummer Scott Lipps a tour of her closet, and talks, among other things, about her new line Never the Bride, what designers she’s really into and of course, her late husband, Kurt Cobain. The best part, though, is when she says Karl Lagerfeld told her “You are not getting laid in a tutu,” one time at the Mercer. Amen to that! {Stylelist}

Zoe Saldana, Eva Longoria, and Olivia Wilde Talk about Life in the Director’s Chair at Glamour‘s ‘Reel Moments’ Premiere

LOS ANGELES–When women get behind the camera, they’re a force to be reckoned with–armed with voices to be heard and stories to tell. Over the last few years, the brazen ladies over at Glamour have championed a cause called “Reel Moments” to not only inspire more stories about women on the big screen, but to also push our favorite leading ladies (Demi Moore and Jennifer Aniston have been past participants) to take hold of the director’s chair and steer their cinematic talents behind the camera for a change.

On Monday afternoon, Glamour and Clarisonic hosted a ladies luncheon at the Soho House in LA to allow this year’s Reel Moments directors Zoe Saldana, Eva Longoria and Olivia Wilde to chat about their directorial debuts. They confessed to everything from a need to please to the shock/pleasure of not having to sit through hair and makeup.

“I’m naturally bossy, so I felt right at home. We had to move fast and think on our feet—which comes quite naturally as a woman–but trust me, I was afraid of disappointing,” Eva Longoria said.

Ralph Lauren Spring 2012: Daisy Buchanan in Her Easter Sunday Best

Ralph Lauren Spring 2012: Daisy Buchanan in Her Easter Sunday Best

In the last few seasons Ralph Lauren has traveled to the Far East and the American West. Yesterday he traveled back in time to a Gatsby-esque ’20s.

Models channeled Daisy Buchanan in flowy menswear-inspired wide leg trousers paired with ruffle front silk blouses and dainty cashmere cardigans, silk chiffon dresses and floral print skirts–every looked capped off with a cloche hat. The first set of looks were in an Easter egg basket palate of, according to the line sheets, “daffodil,” “robin’s egg blue,” “celadon,” and “blush.” (A quick question here–Ralph Lauren opened with a hole ridden sweater that looked moth ball eaten–Kors showed “distressed cashmere”–what gives guys?)

The Easter parade gave way to a series of all-white looks, glammed up by luxe ostrich feather capes and collars. But the show stoppers were undeniably the evening wear that closed the show–a modern Daisy needs something to wear to all those parties! And so does Olivia Wilde, evidently, who was sitting front row. Which is just as well because she would look stunning in any of the gorgeous silver and ivory beaded gowns that closed the show.

Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde Are the Latest Pretty Girls to Land Revlon Contract

It’s official. Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde are everywhere. Last night Emma showed up looking gorgeous in Chanel Haute Couture for the premiere of The Help (left), and can also be seen right now in Crazy Stupid Love . Olivia Wilde made the sometimes-difficult jump from the small screen to the large, appearing in Cowboys and Aliens and The Change-Up this spring.

Both ladies have now completed the journey to full-on movie star by landing a major cosmetics contract. Revlon just announced that both actresses were singed as global brand ambassadors, WWD reports.

Best Dressed: Comic-Con (That’s Not an Oxymoron)

Comic-Con has been around since the ’70s as a comic book and sci-fi convention for die hard fans. So there has always amazing fashion at Comic-Con–albeit more in the capes and Princess Leia buns vein.

But over the years, it’s expanded in range (now covering anime, video games, fantasy novels etc.,) and size. Today, as films based on comic books continue to become instant summer blockbusters, the convention has become a necessary promotional stop for the actors and actresses starring in said films. Since Comic-Con is not a fancy film festival, stars basically wear whatever they (or their stylists) want. Here are our favorite looks from San Diego.
