Happy Halloween! From Nicole Richie as J.Lo to Michael Kors as a Zombie Mariachi, Here are the Best Celeb Costumes

Since Halloween falls on a Monday this year, a lot of parties were planned for this past weekend. Celebs, fashion people, and various reality TV riff-raff were all out in full force with their costumes blazing. From strippers to princesses, the costumes ran the gamut.

Oh, and of course there was Heidi Klum (left) who went as a…medical school cadaver? Anatomy drawing? Flaying victim? Klum told People her costume was called “visible woman” and described it as “kind of like a dead body with the first layer of skin ripped off…it’s basically like me naked.”

From the Red Carpets of 2001 to the Runways of the Ukraine Today: A Look at Paris Hilton’s Unchanging Style

This week Paris Hilton walked the runways…at Ukranian Fashion Week. We’ll just let that sink in for a moment.

This is the girl who, after all, only a handful of years ago, dominated the glossies and tabloids. She had a hit TV show, a popular single, and a New York Times bestselling book. But this was the early aughties–a heady period of exposed navels (don’t forget the rhinestone encrusted belly button studs), juicy couture track suits, fake tans and platinum blonde hair.

But while Paris’ cohorts spent the past five years growing up and leaving the princessy, party-girl act in the past–Nicole Richie became a designer, Kim Kardashian became a bona fide A-list celeb (whether you like it or not, it’s kinda true)–Hilton seems perpetually stuck in the early 2000s, at least when it comes to her style.

Between the platinum hair, orange tan, oversized white sunglasses, sweatsuits and itty-bitty lingerie club dresses, Paris’ 2011 looks are nearly interchangeable with the fashion that was in a decade ago.

Take a look at her non-evolution of style.

Charlotte Ronson To Launch Beauty at Sephora Next Month

As if Sam Ronson’s hard-working sister Charlotte didn’t have enough on her plate (her I Heart Ronson line for JCPenney sells like hotcakes for the mass market, while her own namesake collection is gearing up to debut at Fashion Week in a matter of weeks), the designer darling is ambitiously expanding to beauty as well. With a tagline like ‘effortless beauty, under any spotlight’, the Charlotte Ronson beauty collection will launch in a Sephora near you this September.

This week, a smattering of Hollywood’s hottest It-girls (and, quite conveniently, Ronson’s best gal pals) including Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Rashida Jones, Kidada Jones, Mindy Kaling, Monet Mazur, Drea de Matteo and Lake Bell crowded into Il Sole (one of Ronson’s self-declared favorite haunts in L.A.) to fete the new collection and dabble with the pretty eye shadow palettes, shiny lip glosses and face luminizers on display; while simultaneously noshing on decadent plates of burrata, truffle pasta and dover sole. (Sidenote, we also spied Sam Ronson sneakily ordering off the menu in between courses.)

As for the products, Ronson smartly named several of them after the starlets themselves, which will surely boost sales.

Happy Independence Day! A Roundup of the Tackiest Celeb Flag Fashion

It’s the Fourth of July, and we’re lucky enough to live in a country that allows us the freedom to dress like total jackasses if we want to. Patriotic dressing never gets old and is a perennial favorite of celebs. The problem is that it rarely looks classy, and is almost always tacky. Probably because our flag is red, white, and blue with stars and stripes? That’s a lot going on for one outfit.

The ironic thing is that a lot of the celebs wearing the Stars and Stripes aren’t even from the US. (Hopefully they just think it’s cool, kinda how Americans think the Union Jack is cool.)

Click through for the most glorious sartorial abuses of our American flag, courtesy of many celebrities.

The Best Celebrity Nip Slips

The Best Celebrity Nip Slips

It seems like you can’t walk ten feet without seeing a nipple today. First, Lady Gaga all over the CFDA awards, then Khloe Kardashian’s six minute exposed nipple extravaganza on Fox and Friends this morning, during which she sat chatting with the hosts in a see through top and no bra. (Showing no embarrassment, Khloe later tweeted: “Thank God! I f*cking love nipples!!!!”)

In honor of these two class acts, we decided to do a nip slip retrospective. You may be surprised at some of the starlets who’ve let their girls come out unannounced. Yes, the usual suspects like Mischa and Paris are there, but so are Keira Knightley and Beyonce.

Click through to get an eyeful. (Needless to say, this is NSFW.)

Miuccia Prada Would Never Do Fast Fashion: More from Miuccia Prada’s extensive interview with WWD, “I have never even considered [fast fashion] and I’ve explained why. It’s because I don’t like the idea of a bad copy of what one does for the main brand. If I had an ingenious idea to do fashion that costs less but that wasn’t a bad copy of something else, with completely different criteria and ways of doing things, I would do it. Also for myself, it would be an ingenious idea. For now, what I see more or less is the bad copy. Also with clothes that cost little, you need to ask why they cost so little. Because no one ever asks themselves that.” {WWD subscription required}

Fashion News Roundup: Prince William’s Wedding Shirt, Dave Matthews Lands a Campaign and Uniqlo’s Profits Tank

Cathy Horyn Laments a Dull Moment In Fashion: Horyn’s point here is that designers and photographers are using sexuality and gender crossovers to be shocking rather than push themselves creatively. She calls out restrictions placed on designers and publications by advertisers, as well as American society’s prudish hangups about sex. {NYT}

Dave Matthews Is The New Face Of John Varvatos: The campaign, shot by David Clinch, was inspired by Matthews’ love of vintage instruments and his fascination with carnies. {WWD subscription required}

Fashion News Roundup: Horyn Takes On Snooki, Lights at Lanvin, Paris Hilton Gives Nazi Salute

Cathy Horyn Takes Down Snooki: Snooki, the Jersey Shore’s breakout star, is a polarizing (mini) figure. Cathy Horyn, who penned the piece, is not a fan. Harshest digs include: “Snooki is not conventionally attractive…She is busty and short-waisted with small legs; sort of like a turnip turned on its tip,” and “trying to hold a conversation with Snooki is a little like getting down on your hands and knees with a child.” What did Snooki ever do to you Cathy? {NY Times}

Candles Out, Lights On at Lanvin:
Shoppers won’t have to browse through Alber Elbaz’s creations by candlelight anymore. All 6,875 square feet of Lanvin’s new flagship Madison Ave. store has electricity now. {Style.com}

Paris Hilton Makes Another Really Bad (and Offensive) Decision: Paris was snapped mid “heil” over the weekend in St. Tropez wearing a red military-ish hat. Not cute, Paris. {Daily Mail}

Daphne Guinness is, in our opinion, one of the coolest women on the planet. And come September we’ll be able to own just a little piece of her when her first fragrance, Daphne, is finally available.
