Attend New York Fashion Week From Your Couch: A Complete List of Shows Livestreaming This Week

New York is unreasonably cold right now. Like impending-blizzard-freeze-your-Rag & Bone-covered-butt-off cold. This is exactly why we, and fashionistas nowhere near New York, are praising the fashion gods (more like IMG & various PR people) for the glorious amount of New York fashion week shows livestreaming this week. We wrangled 89 shows (89!) and presentations to tune into over the course of the next week…with even more coming in! The best part? You won’t be judged for taking in these shows in your pjs over some popcorn or pizza or half a bottle of wine…

See any shows we missed? Let us know!

Patrik Ervell Fall 2012: Police State

Patrik Ervell Fall 2012: Police State

When downtown mainstay and minimalist du jour Patrik Ervell conceptualized his Fall 2012 men’s and women’s collection, he turned to a dark, aggressive –and depending on which political circle you swing in, somewhat controversial – reference. “I was thinking, ‘What does authority look like to people today?’” the young Scandinavian-born sportswear designer explained to us backstage. The answer was, “Navy, nylon and uniforms—the police aesthetic,” which he presented in lean and militaristic form.

Ervell Fall 2011: A Force to Reckon With

I’m just going to say it: Patrik Ervell should have won the CFDA/GQ New Menswear Designer of the Year. Quite simply, and I use the word “simply” intentionally here, no one is making menswear like Patrik Ervell. The refinement of his suits are unmatched, and his apparel retains an absolutely effortless sexiness and masculinity without losing even a touch of its elegance. And yet his materials are forward-thinking, without needing to get all up in your face with their avant-gardness. For my money, in terms of young, or “new” designers, he is the one to beat.

Ervell’s F/W 2011 collection began against a backdrop of white billowing parachutes, flowing with gusts of wind provided by fans. The minimal, dramatic set was a precursor for what was to come: the stage outline of the film Dogville, or those first, sparse piano notes that introduce Kanye’s Runaway.

Gap Reveals Its Annual CDFA Collaboration, Featuring Incredible Designs by Monique Péan, Patrik Ervell and Sophie Theallet

Gap Reveals Its Annual CDFA Collaboration, Featuring Incredible Designs by Monique Péan, Patrik Ervell and Sophie Theallet

When CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winners and nominees design for Gap, two things happen:

1. The piece goes down in history. (Like Philip Lim’s white blouse, Alex Wang’s khaki motorcycle jacket, or Vena Cava’s printed dress.)

2. The piece is completely forgotten. (For this, we have no examples, because we can’t remember them.)

Rest assured, this season’s designs–including jewelry by Monique Péan, menswear by Patrik Ervell, and women’s wear by Sophie Theallet–are almost guaranteed to fall into the first category.
