Princess Diana’s Dresses to Be Displayed at Kensington Palace in New Exhibit

Princess Diana’s Dresses to Be Displayed at Kensington Palace in New Exhibit

Right now, all eyes might be on what Kate Middleton is wearing–but come March 2012, the Duchess of Cambridge will have another Princess’ wardrobe to contend with. London’s Kensington Palace is set to unveil an exhibit dedicated to Princess Diana’s celebrated fashion and a few of her most famous gowns will be on display, WWD is reporting.

The exhibit, called “Diana,” will have a set created by interior designer Finola Inger, and Julie Verhoeven has designed bespoke wallpaper that highlights the late Princess of Wales’ key fashion moments. But the pièce de résistance is a black silk taffeta Emanuel gown, which cemented Diana’s status as a fashion icon when she wore it to an event 10 days after her engagement to Prince Charles was announced, on the couple’s first official public outing (the design duo Elizabeth and David Emmanuel later designed Diana’s wedding dress).
