Pringle of Scotland Fall 2012: Grown-Up Rebellion

Pringle of Scotland Fall 2012: Grown-Up Rebellion

LONDON–Pringle of Scotland is the thinking woman’s label, as evidenced by fan Tilda Swinton, who was sadly missing from yesterday’s show. However, Rose Byrne–still rocking her Anna Wintour ‘do and decked out in fall 2012 Pringle–came instead. While Pringle probably won’t be her go-to label for the Oscars red carpet this weekend, she will have no shortage of lovely things to choose from in this collection once fall hits.

Alistair Carr based his collection around a girl who is “growing out of her teenage angst into a sophisticated woman.” To that end, the models all had dip-dyed hair but there was no sign of punkiness in the clothes.

Waris Ahluwalia, Arden Wohl and More Threw a Party for Pelicans

Last night, we stopped by Party for the Pelicans, a charity event held at The Wooly to benefit the oil disaster, specifically the Endangered Species Coalition’s efforts to protect the more than 40 endangered species being negatively impacted.

The party was full of cool people like Arden Wohl, Tom Sachs, Leelee Sobieski and Waris Ahluwalia, who lent a beautiful piece from House of Waris to the event’s silent auction. If the piece weren’t so far out of our price range, we would have bid our little hearts out. We’re super jealous of whoever got it, but if it wasn’t you, head to Barneys this week, as all proceeds from House of Waris will go to the Endangered Species Coalition. Sculptor Tom Sachs is also helping out–he made this amazing necklace made out of little polar bear sculptures and about $40 worth of quarters, all the proceeds of which will also go to the ESC.

Fashion Week

London Bound

Fashion Month suffered from serious shake ups last season. For Spring 2010 Burberry went from Milan to London, Giles went from London to Paris, Pringle of Scotland took the same route as Burberry, Matthew Williamson, who’s always been kind of confused, was back in London after stints in New York and everyone involved in any Read more →

And the Nominees Are…

This morning, we’re still reeling from last night’s turducken, but the British Fashion Council’s attending to much more important matters. They’ve released a short list of nominees for their new awards, the British Fashion Awards, which take place in London on December 9th. While some categories are conspicuously empty, they’ve listed the following: Top Model: Read more →

Vending Machines Get Arty

There are many reasons we really want to go to Art Basel in Miami. From (of course) the art to the beyond chic crowd and parties. And just the general fun one can have in sunny Miami because you know, “Miami, Miami, you’ve got style. Blue skies, sunshine, white sand by the mile…” (If you Read more →

Karlie’s World Domination

John Galliano let slip that Karlie Kloss is his girl for Spring 2010. She won’t front Galliano (whose ads never appear stateside), but Dior. The designer launched his eponymous “timepiece range” in Paris last night and told WWD he’d been very busy casting the spring campaign. But really, how hard can it be to cast Read more →

Trendspotting: Lemon Zest

Overall, New York Fashion Week kept to a very neutral palette, but when color was needed designers went straight for neon yellows and lime greens to brighten their quiet visions of spring. We spotted it at Jonathan Saunders, Brian Reyes and Marc by Marc, of course. But Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi of Preen, Yigal Read more →

A Partnership of Scots

Pringle’s magical trio of hipness – Lydia Hearst, Daisy Lowe and Pixie Geldof – has been replaced with none other than Tilda Swinton. The three heiresses landed at Pringle at the end of last year when the almost two hundred year old Scottish knitwear brand had a slight identity crisis and focused all their efforts Read more →

Jonathan Saunders will join his Brit friends at London Fashion Week this September.
