Heidi, Tim and Mondo Talk Project Runway‘s 10th Season at the Show’s Anniversary Party Last Night

Project Runway‘s 10th ‘Anniversary’ Party, celebrating the show’s impending tenth season (and eighth year), felt a lot like a reality TV high school reunion. Held under the Chelsea Market Overpass at New York’s High Line Park last night, the event saw throngs of contestants and coaches from all nine seasons reuniting sans air conditioning on what was the hottest night of the year so far.

“I’m grateful for this jacket because I am soaking wet underneath!” a totally non-drippy-looking Tim Gunn confided in us–we took his word for it. The designer mentor kept mum about PR‘s newly added therapy component, saying only, “you’ll just have to watch!” The flawless-as-ever Heidi Klum, whose petite mother was on hand passing her daughter glasses of water garnished with lime, was also mysteriously un-sweaty. Maybe supermodels really don’t have pores?

The Fashion Crowd Weighs in On the ‘Made in America’ Debate–Can Anyone Really Afford to Produce Domestically?

The controversy over Ralph Lauren’s Chinese-produced Team USA uniforms has raised a bigger question in the fashion community: Is making affordable clothing in America a feasible option for any designer? That was the hot issue for some of the designers and fashion personalities who attended the Project Runway 10th Anniversary Party held in Chelsea last night–and while most agreed that the Team USA uni production ideally should’ve happened domestically, the empathetic laments about the cost (and feasibility) of producing locally proved to be a common thread.

Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet touched on Lauren (whom she called “pretty friggin’ awesome”) being unfairly singled out for this “misshap”

Lord & Taylor Is the New Project Runway Sponsor

Lord & Taylor Is the New Project Runway Sponsor

Project Runway‘s getting a new retail partnership for its 10th season; but in a way, they’re going back to the beginning. After six seasons of e-tail partnerships with Bluefly and then Piperlime, they’re going with Lord & Taylor. As you may recall, the show’s original retail sponsor when we still watched it it was on Bravo, was another department store–Macy’s. Clearly, the show is eager to go back to the old formula, and having a department store sponsor–as opposed to an e-commerce one–could be a part of that.

A retail sponsorship with Project Runway means a few things, but mainly that, throughout the season, contestants (who don’t have meltdowns and leave) will choose pieces from the Lord & Taylor accessory wall to complete their looks and that the winner of the contest will have their collection sold by the retailer.

Katie Holmes Didn’t Let Her Divorce Filing Stop Her From Taping Project Runway All Stars

Not unlike her dedication to putting fashion first when it came to her height difference from Tom Cruise, Holmes kept her commitment to taping a guest judge spot on Project Runway: All Stars yesterday, despite having filed for divorce from her husband of six years on Friday.

More than just a celebrity who dresses (herself and her daughter) well, Holmes is making a name for herself in the fashion biz with the label she designs with her stylist: Holmes & Yang, which sells at Barneys.
