Attend New York Fashion Week From Your Couch: A Complete List of Shows Livestreaming This Week

Attend New York Fashion Week From Your Couch: A Complete List of Shows Livestreaming This Week

New York is unreasonably cold right now. Like impending-blizzard-freeze-your-Rag & Bone-covered-butt-off cold. This is exactly why we, and fashionistas nowhere near New York, are praising the fashion gods (more like IMG & various PR people) for the glorious amount of New York fashion week shows livestreaming this week. We wrangled 89 shows (89!) and presentations to tune into over the course of the next week…with even more coming in! The best part? You won’t be judged for taking in these shows in your pjs over some popcorn or pizza or half a bottle of wine…

See any shows we missed? Let us know!

How the Fashion Industry Prepped for Hurricane Sandy

How the Fashion Industry Prepped for Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy is upon us–but the fashion industry isn’t letting this Frankenstorm bring them down.

We checked in with some of our favorite people in the industry–from The Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine to Kelly Cutrone to DKNY PR Girl Aliza Licht–to find out how they prepped for tonight’s storm. For an industry that’s supposed to shun carbs we are collectively loaded up on them–as well as candy, nail polish, and fashion mags to read by scented candle light.

Click through to see how everyone is getting ready.

And above all, everybody stay safe!!

A MYHABIT-Forming Evening with Vanessa Hudgens, Plum Sykes, Jenny Lewis, and Brooklyn Decker

A MYHABIT-Forming Evening with Vanessa Hudgens, Plum Sykes, Jenny Lewis, and Brooklyn Decker

Despite the downpour, yesterday evening’s launch of Amazon.com’s new private sale website, MYHABIT.com, boasted an impressive roster of boldfaced names. Everyone from super stylist Mary Alice Stephenson to designers Rebecca Minkoff and Charlotte Ronson to Disney sweetheart Vanessa Hudgens turned up for the fête. All sported perfectly-coiffed hair (celebs–they’re not just like us!). The site, which offers major markdowns on designer duds, has smartly upped their fashion cred by teaming with the CFDA. Accordingly, both the organization’s Executive Director Steven Kolb and President Diane von Furstenberg were out to support the site.

Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2011: Cool Girl in a Cruel World
Reviews

Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2011: Cool Girl in a Cruel World

If fashion shows function as brand statements then Rebecca Minkoff ended hers with five exclamation marks. And that’s even before the clothes came out. As the lights rose in the Theater, Sean Lennon and girlfriend, Charlotte Kemp, gave a stirring performance which continued throughout the show. Tough act to follow; but Minkoff did with loose chiffon skirts, sheer leggings and over sized sweaters which fell carelessly off the shoulder. Some standouts include an asymmetrical wrap with fur accents and a sexy, structured trench. These are clothes for the city girl who is perpetually running for a taxi and who never does the “walk of shame,” but the strut of satisfaction.

Gift Guide: Make It Personal

It’s getting down to the wire, but that doesn’t mean your holiday gifts have to lack that personal touch. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite personalized gifts–from charms to monogrammed iPad cases to signet rings. We’d be psyched to get any of these goodies with our initials stamped on them.

Granted, some of these call for a bit more advanced planning, so keep them in mind for birthdays, too. And there’s always next year. (If you’re still stumped, don’t forget about our other gift guides!)

Agyness Deyn and Her Model Friends Fete the Launch of Naag.com

Monday’s naag.com launch party at Mary Queen of Scots felt less like a “fashion party” and more like a bunch of cool kids hanging out at a hip LES bar–in a good way.

If you’re wondering what naag.com is, I think it is best described on the site’s Who We Are page: “Naag is Fiona and Aggy and our friends. Talking about things we live and do and see and feel. We live in New York and like to hang out.”

That also pretty much sums up the party. And if its attendees were any indication, their friends are people like Karen Elson, Coco Rocha, Seth Meyers, Christian Siriano, Becka Diamond, Rebecca Minkoff, Eddie Borgo, and, according to the tip sheet, an incognito Marion Cotillard. To compliment the venue’s British theme, AllSaints sponsored and Agyness was dressed head-to-toe in the UK-based brand.

Something For The Boys: Rebecca Minkoff Dishes On The Man Bags You’ll Want To Steal

Rebecca Minkoff stole out hearts years ago with the so-called Morning After Bag (MAB, for short), and now she’s out to steal our men–or the spot on their arms, at least–with the introduction of Ben Minkoff. Inspired by her grandfather, a World War II fighter pilot, the collection-for-guys promises all the rugged durability and old-school details we love…and, with any luck, the cool factor required to make your significant other spring for a new look. We won’t tell if you want to take one for a spin, either.

Fashionista: Many times, designers going from catering to women to targeting men will just add chunkier hardware and adopt a more rugged design. But your products tend to be hardware-heavy and durable to begin with. Was it difficult to really make this line stand out and feel more masculine?
